Hmm... let's see, don't give competition press, or get the scoop... ooo, tough one....

We have a second declared candidate for the Madison Central School Board! Jennie Thompson, paralegal for the Lake County States Attorney, has submitted her petition to run! Here's her press release:

I would like to announce that effective today, I have submitted my Petition to run as a candidate for the Madison Central School Board. I was born in Brookings, South Dakota, attended kindergarten in Flandreau, and moved to Madison prior to first grade. I am a 1998 graduate of Madison High School, and a 2004 graduate of South Dakota State University with a major in Sociology and a minor in Criminal Justice. I am a paralegal for the Lake County State's Attorney Office and have been with the Office since January of 2000. My husband, Marty (a 1993 graduate of MHS), and I have three children, Vanessa (4), Tyler (3) and Tevin (1). I am a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and I am currently involved in the Leadership Madison Program.

With three children who will be entering the school district, I believe now is the time for me to seek this position. I am dedicated to creating a future for our children which will enhance the education they receive from Madison Central. While there are many challenges facing the Madison Central School District, I believe these challenges are opportunities to make our District even stronger. I believe we have a top-notch educational system here in Madison, and I am anxious to become involved in helping the District further prosper.

Welcome to the show, Jennie! One more candidate, and we've got a campaign!

Careful: we all know what we get when we turn elections into beauty contests.

    John,
She may be pretty, but she also has an analytical mind that lets her see through her emotions, go straight to the truth, and stand by the truth. Will make an outstanding school board member.
