98% of Noem PAC Money from Out of State; GOP Buhl Attack Backfires

PP? P-U!

Dakota War College dissembles again. Pat Powers takes another gratuitous swipe at Senator Angie Buhl with a misleading headline and incomplete facts. Powers claims that Sen. Buhl is "bringing in the PAC bacon from out of state." However, he provides no evidence that the what he says in his headline is actually happening.

DWC's claim rests largely on citing Buhl's 2010 primary campaign finance report (remember, she faced no general election challenger after beating pale-blue Dem Kathy Miles), which in the PAC section shows $10,195.50 in contributions from ActBlue.

Based in Massachusetts (home of many liberal creatures, like Mitt Romney), ActBlue provides an "online clearinghouse" for Democrats nationwide who want to set up quick and easy online campaign contribution systems. Senator Buhl is using that system to take donations again this year (yes, fellow Dems, click now!). So are Dem PUC candidates Matt McGovern and Nick Nemec. So are several Legislative candidates, including the Madville Times' newest advertiser, District 12 House candidate Mike Knudson.

I don't have a state-by-state breakdown handy, but the money ActBlue sends to South Dakota candidates is at least as likely to be coming from South Dakota supporters as from out-of-staters. So to cite ActBlue money as evidence of out-of-state "PAC bacon" is, at best, an incomplete charge.

Powers additionally frets that the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund is encouraging folks to support Angie Buhl. I'm not sure what bugs Pat more, the G's and L's in the name, or the D.C. in the address.

But if Powers really has a beef with out-of-state PAC money in South Dakota politics, he must surely have in the chute a post lambasting Rep. Kristi Noem for her high bacon-consumption. According to her latest FEC campaign finance filing, our Congresswoman has received $781,625 in PAC money this election cycle. $766,125 — 98% — came from PACs listing their state as something other than SD. That sum includes $5,500 from the Koch Industries PAC, $3,000 from the Halliburton PAC,

Noem's opponent, Democrat Matt Varilek, reports receiving $49,553 in PAC contributions. $35,053 — 71% — came from non-SD PACs.

So what was that you were saying about that dastardly out-of-state PAC money, Pat? Hello? Pat? Sorry, we can't hear you....

So Noem and Varilek have essentially received about the same amount of instate donations. Noem: $15,500 and Varilek: $14,500. Not so good for a sitting congresswoman.

Noem's campaign is making $30,000 a day: whether she wins reelection or not her former negative net worth turns red ink into red gold.

Pat Powers is definitely out of shape.

But he's gonna make a comeback Fred!

Of course his latest post on the recent Gallup poll...you know the one where SD, ND, WY and NE don't like the President and that ensures that he won't be reelected....might be the same as falling off the balance beam...but there's time for Pat to bounce back.

Come on Pat! There's still the 'uneven' bars...that might be more your style. If you crash on that, there is always the pommel horse where you can leap to a conclusion and then spin around in the air...as long as you land on your feet.

Not that Pat needs help...but I wonder if he saw what his fellow traveler, the good Republican Representative from Tennessee has to say.

"Rep. Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown) sent an email from his state email account to constituents containing a rumor that Obama and the Department of Homeland Security are planning a series of events that could lead to the imposition of "martial law" and delay the election. Among the events hypothesized in the email is a staged assassination attempt on the president that would lead to civil unrest in urban areas and martial law."

Look for Pat to break this news soon. Sure hope Brian Liss is reading...I mean as a freedom fighter and everything...he should know this stuff.

Poor Kristi: That farm bill that is not going to come to a vote now...oh, yeah...the one that has her "fingerprints all over it." LOL

So Kristi is fighting for the Farm Bill and SDWC says that she is fighting for women....and of course the Republican charade of pushing for jobs.

So why did the farm bill, postal service reform and the violence against women act all get left on the back burner?

Mostly because Kristi and the pandering xenophobes that make up the House decided that grandstanding with an English as the official language bill was far more important...even though they knew it was only for show.

    Nice leadership Kristi!

I certainly hope someone asks her why she has allowed SD taxpayer money to be wasted on grandstanding rather than doing any actual work. This would be an especially good question when she brings up how hard she has worked on jobs.

Staying with the Olympic theme...the Republicans are dressage...when what the country needs are work horses.
