Badlands Bash Sunday Afternoon at Rapid City Main Street Square

Last updated on 2014.06.16

I love Rapid City's Main Street Square. It's a beautiful outdoor space. Every time I've been downtown in Rapid City, there have been people hanging out there, and usually there's been some sort of event (ice skating, farmer's market, unicycle exhibition) inviting folks to come enjoy their fair city.

Neighbor, doctor, and soda impressario Kevin Weiland invites us all to another fun event in the square this Sunday. His Dakota Soda Company is sponsoring the Badlands Bash, a jam session featuring Landslide, Layne Putnam, James Van Nuys, Mike Reardon Band, and other local musicians. Badlands National Park, Friends of the Badlands, and the Badlands Natural History Association are hosting the event. In addition to the music, they'll offer kids activities and information about the Badlands and what we can do to protect that unique ecosystem.

The event runs Sunday, September 30, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. It's free, but the Friends of the Badlands will take donations to help fund field trips for school kids to the Badlands. They'll also be raffling buffalo meat. Music and meat—mmmmm!
