In the Conservative-Only-When-We-Want-to-Be Department, Gordon Howie proves that even the arch-est conservative caves to crony-corporate the 1%'s objectives. He calls on Washington to protect tax subsidies for Big Oil and protection for corporations shipping operations overseas:
Recently, a group of Congressman signed a letter to both President Obama and Speaker Boehner urging the elimination of $50 billion in oil and gas tax credits as part of fiscal cliff negotiations.
This would be a terrible mistake.
The oil and gas companies in this country are responsible for more than nine millions jobs and billions of dollars that these companies pay every year. Those dollars are invested into our local communities and with the jobs that these companies create that means more income for American workers.
One specific credit that the President would like to eliminate is what is known as dual capacity. Dual capacity tax laws give tax credits to US companies operating abroad so that they do not get taxed twice on the income they generate both abroad and at home. Taking away this incentive will harm oil and gas companies, leading to higher prices at the pump and in the grocery store [Gordon Howie, "South Dakota Call to Action," The Right Side, 2012.1.14].
Good grief. When even Gordon's wing of the party is beholden to corporations and the propaganda of "job creators" over "job doers," there is no hope for conservatives.

Exactly Cory, Gordo and the rest are just new republicans. Conservatives no longer exist in the GOP.
I read this this a.m. and had trouble following the logic...more money for oil, but don't raise their taxes? How exactly does that work? Maybe Gordon is waiting for his big government subsidy that will help him with his property tax problem.
he is one scary dude. and yes, there are people that voted him into office. YIKES!
Yet another case of, "you didn't build that."

"First, people who receive employer-based health insurance do not pay taxes on its cost. Second, employers deduct the cost of the policies as a business expense. [I]t’s the largest cost to the U.S. Treasury, “an estimated $246 billion annually, according to Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation, dwarfing the second-largest break, the mortgage interest deduction, which costs an estimated $98 billion.”
