Northern Beef Packers Pays Lawyers $75K While Stiffing Workers

I'm reading the financial statement filed by Northern Beef Packers president David Palmer in bankruptcy court on August 2. (Case 13-10118, Document 105).

On July 12, Northern Beef Packers issued 226 hourly payroll checks totaling $72,014.70.

On July 17, Northern Beef Packers informed its workers they would not receive their July 19 paychecks.

On July 19, Northern Beef Packers issued two checks for $75,000 to the Minneapolis office of law firm Cozen O'Connor for consultation on debt consolidation or (more likely) their impending bankruptcy.

The workers adding value on the slaughterhouse floor get no checks. The lawyers getting NBP out of paying their workers get checks.

NBP workers, ask Governor Daugaard next Friday why that's fair.

Big Ag in South Dakota - - Both Rounds and Daugaard have had this as their agenda. And so much corruption is attached to it. No matter where you look, grants and no taxes and every kind of spiff you can think of. And then the public pays to keep them operating. OUR tax dollars at work supporting big ag. We are being taken for the biggest ride ever. Just to line the pockets of Big Ag!! All over the USA.
