Annette Bosworth, Holy War-Monger

Update 16:59 CDT: Annette Bosworth's beacon, Che Guevara, also wanted America to over-extend itself in multiple Vietnams.

David Montgomery gets all five of South Dakota's U.S. Senate candidates on the record in opposition to attacking Syria... well, sort of. Larry Rhoden and Stace Nelson clearly question whether we have a national security interest in Syria. Nelson says our interest may be to stay the heck out, as hitting Syria could provoke more terrorism against us and Israel.

Wait a minute: the United States could take unwise actions that could cause terrorists to attack us? Isn't that the same logical argument that got former legislator Gerry Lange branded "an apologist for terrorists"?

Marion Michael Rounds repeats the standard line about needing to define our objectives and endgame. Rick Weiland opposes our going it alone in Syria without an international coalition, a reasonable position, given that unilateral warmaking is a violation of international law.

These four men clearly oppose a U.S. attack on Syria as it has been framed by President Barack Obama. Each appears open to the possibility of attacking Syria if the President could fulfill certain criteria, present new evidence, and gather international partners.

Then there's Annette Bosworth. Picking more from the fruity tree of random slogans and beliefs, Bosworth fuses fear and Jesus-freakery to advocate a bigger war:

Alone among the five candidates, Bosworth said her trepidation is not that the U.S. will do too much in Syria, but that it will do too little.

"His proposal for such a limited strike will only help the radical militants in that area, and not send the full message of what should be done," Bosworth said.

Bosworth said her feelings on the matter are driven by the impact on “our allies in Israel,” and said a more comprehensive blow that considers “the concerns of Israel” would be better than a short-term cruise missile strike or brief bombing campaign [David Montgomery, "All Five U.S. Senate Candidates Oppose Syria Strike," Political Smokeout 2013.09.06].

So much for Dr. Bosworth's Hippocratic oath. Her husband and campaign manager Chad Haber must have read some flyer on the End Times and Israel and told Annette to go out and out-testosterone the boys in the race. Haber and Bosworth clearly did not read the Thursday New York Times article which explains that Israel wants exactly President Obama's limited, message-sending strikes and not Bosworth's comprehensive blow because, realpolitikally, a Syria locked in internal bloodshed poses less of an external threat than a Syria in which either Assad or the jihadi-dominated rebels win.

Think, Annette! Read! And stop being a warmonger based on your superficial, image-driven conception of holy war. If you want to pretend to be a friend of Israel, listen to what Israel really says is in its best interest.

Christian conservatism is an oxymoron but christian nationalism drives the military/industrial complex that Ms. Bosworth's husband craves.

Nuclear war would solve the Israel problem post haste.

Had a white mormon been elected as Commander-in-Chief (Allah forbid) the GOP machine would be clamoring and clambering to join Bibi in attacking Syria.

Chad and Annette don't mention it much on their online profiles, but they did spend several years in Utah. I wonder if they osmosed some of that White Horse Prophecy thinking while Chad was running that mortgage Ponzi scheme.
