The Yankton Press and Dakotan conducted an online poll Thursday. Skipping the baloney, they went right to the question of whom voters would support in a three-way Senate race. The results show a tantalizing three-way split:
- Mike Rounds 34.7%
- Rick Weiland 34.7%
- Larry Pressler 18.4%
- Not sure/Other 12.2%
- Total votes cast: 438
Even though the Yankton P&D is a real newspaper, I suspect their online poll margin of error is comparable to the barn-broadsidedness of polls here on the Madville Times. But among Yankton's online readers, Democrat Rick Weiland is able to pull the same number of votes as much richer Republican Mike Rounds. Those two still have over 30% of the vote to compete for among the undecideds and the folks who think it's still 1980 and want to vote for that nice young Vietnam veteran from Humboldt.
By the way, the P&D's Friday poll shows support for raising the minimum wage beating opposition 59.1% to 36.9%. Darned liberal media!
Yayyyyyy and Yayyyyyyyy!!!
That's not good news for Rounds and his paid operatives. Pat had better post some more of those lame old tired attacks against Weiland, Pressler besides the daily attacks against Nelson.
I wish I had a bit of optimism, but my guess is that a few young Weiland supporters were smart enough to clear their browser history and vote multiple times. They are likely the same ones who created the margin on the minimum wage poll.
Kal Lis, let's be hopeful: perhaps those young Weiland supporters are practicing inline to sharpen their skills at getting folks to come flood the real polls for Weiland in November.
