What if they spam your poll again, Cory?

  2. Jim Snyder 2014.05.20

Who cares about the poll. It means nothing.

  3. Danno 2014.05.20

Wouldn't it be fun to play and give Dr. B about 300 bogus votes here? :-)

  4. Roger Cornelius 2014.05.20

I care about the poll! True, it won't be accurate, but it is entertaining.
The difficult part was restraining myself and not voting in the Republican slate.

  5. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.05.20

No, no, no, Danno. Keep it honest. If you can find 300 genuine Bosworth supporters to come cast their votes, bring it on. But I'll bet you can't.

Jim, it obviously means enough to get you to comment. Thanks for stopping by... and be sure to cast your vote, too!

  6. JeniW 2014.05.20

Whether it is Hubbel or Daugaard name is on the ballot, I won't vote for either one of them. My not voting for either one of them won't make a bit a difference, but I will at least know that I did not advocate/enabled either, and will not as Hubbel told me about people who vote for Daugaard that "they will get what they deserve."

  7. Jessie 2014.05.20

As an Indy, I voted for Lowe. Wismer just isn't ready to govern.

  8. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.05.20

Glad to have Indies speaking up! We Dems welcome Indies at the polls on June 3, too. Help us pick a winner!

  9. Danno 2014.05.20

    Ok, I suppose I'll behave....

(Specially cause your polling engine is smarter than my old browser-cleaner-upper) - well done! (Time for an upgrade)...

  10. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.05.20

Danno, I engage in no arms race with hackers. I simply dive into the mosh pit of human integrity and respect and hope to surf.

  11. Roger Cornelius 2014.05.20

    Hey Danno,

Glad to see you have made it over to the #1 political blog in South Dakota. Keep tuning in.

  12. Deb Geelsdottir 2014.05.20

Oops. My bad. First I voted in the poll, then I read this post. Since I am now a resident of MN, I can't vote in Sodak at all. Even worse, I cast a vote in the Republican race. (Boy is my face red.)

To make amends for my inattention, I'll tell you that I voted for Lowe and Nelson, so my votes can be removed. Mea culpa, mea culpa. Mea mega culpa. (That's my personal version of Latin.)

  13. mike from iowa 2014.05.20

Would love to have Joe Lowe to vote for in iowa. If you don't want him, send him East across the river. 'Course wingnuts in iowa would claim he makes too much sense and therefore must be burnt at the stake. They like their pols dumb and their wingnut pols even dumber in iowa.

  14. Bill Fleming 2014.05.20

Danno... Danno... hmmm... something vaguely familiar with that moniker. Is this the same Danno who was a big Sam Kooiker fan?

  15. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.05.20

If you didn't vote in the other primary, you can't view the results.

  16. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.05.20

Deb, neither the Attorney General nor I will prosecute anyone in connection with the votes they cast in this poll. But I will take your note into account when figuring results. :-)

Oh, nuts! Lanny, you're right! Let me go fix that...

  17. Bree S. 2014.05.20

I think I'd probably vote for Lowe if I was a Democrat. But I haven't researched them, so I don't really know..

  18. Tim 2014.05.20

Ok, here we go with my reasoning. I haven't voted republican for 15 years in the general and it is always about this time I remember I still haven't changed my registration to indy, been meaning to do that for a long time. So, in staying in the rules I cast my votes for Stace because I believe he has the best chance of giving teflon Mike a run. I also think Weiland wins if any pub is chosen besides teflon Mike. I also voted for Ms Hubbel as I refuse to support Daugaard for anything and will be voting for Mr Lowe in the general anyway.

  19. grudznick 2014.05.20

Mr. H has polluted his own poll by not linking to the young Dr. Boz's web site. That could affect the outcomes here and make it as invalid as his other polls ended up being. I hope not, but it could. I know it made me more sympathetic toward her and look at all the pictures there.

  20. Roger Cornelius 2014.05.20

I was took a gander over at the Rounds blog where Powers is pushing him with a somewhat questionable analysis.

Of course there are still those promoting the parlor games, that someone or other is a plant.

What did catch my attention was the number of comments suggesting a Republican run off in the event no one is a clear winner. ????

  21. larry kurtz 2014.05.20

Please join me and send both Rep. Wismer and Mr. Lowe some money.

  22. grudznick 2014.05.20

Mr. kurtz, I sent them both some good ideas and a couple of mazacoins, too. They love those things.

  23. CK 2014.05.20

    Roger..How would a run-off work?

  24. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.05.20

Really Cory, 122 votes in a Dem primary and 149 in a Repub primary on a liberal blog???????

Rounds won the Republican primary in '02 with 44%. Barnett 30% and Kirby 26% All that is needed is a plurality. Some democracy hunh?? Plurality for governor, majority for a 120 million dollar events center in SF and 60% to pass a school bond in this forward thinking, (did I really type that?) State.

  25. Roger Cornelius 2014.05.20

    CK,
Quite honestly, I have no idea how a run-off would work. It seems like a pretty remote chance of that happening if the Rounds numbers are correctly showing with such a big lead.

  26. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.05.20

Okay grudz, what have you done to get every Rhoden supporter in the State to vote in this poll, or have you figured a way to vote more than once? You said that you were a member of Rhoden's Rangers and now you have proven it.

  27. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.05.20

Pollution, Grudz? Bosworth is the pollution. You should be glad I deigned to include her.

  28. lora hubbel 2014.05.21

I noticed my link goes to a "file not found" page on Madville times...whereas the other candidate' link goes to their website. I have a really difficult website to remember...its lorahubbel.com

  29. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.05.21

Fixed! Sorry, Lora—sloppy link pasting on my part. I left off the "http://", which leads to messes in the code.

  30. Bree S. 2014.05.21

They spammed your poll again, Cory. Look at all the support Rhoden has (again) of all people. Lol.

  31. lorahubbel 2014.05.21

no problem...I thought the odd spelling of both my first and last names was throwing you off. But I equally clicked all links so the vote should be good still

  32. Danno 2014.05.21

    CH,

I'm no hacker, it's just that my browser cleaner normally does a better job, I don't like website tracking for security reasons, was meant as a compliment to you. The journal on the other hand.....

@ Bill, I felt Sam was a better choice than Kirkeby. Hope I spelled that right. I do think too much attention is being paid to Shotguns, although I've not been in that place for well over 10 years. Others are far more vocal than I.

  33. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.05.21

Bree, what if Team Rhoden can get people to "spam" the voting booth?

  34. Ken Santema 2014.05.21

Voted. Of course Stace in the Sen primary (he's the reason I'm even registered R currently). And Hubbel in the Gov Primary. But honestly I really like Myers, so he is my choice for this fall.

  35. Kal Lis 2014.05.21

If memory serves, you had an earlier Lowe/Wismer poll of some sort that Lowe won rather handily. I thought those results perhaps represented a reader bias not reflective of the Democratic electorate in general. Now, it seems to reflect the level of skill of each candidate as a campaigner.

  36. Nick Nemec 2014.05.21

At this point in the game any candidate who is wasting volunteer time spamming online polls needs a lesson in effective use of resources. Get those volunteers on the phone making calls to voters or on the street knocking on doors.

  37. gail 2014.05.21

I am not at all surprised by the people that follow Cory. . . . . he draws all kinds out here as he has shown more common sense than most bloggers!! I am a life long Republican, but not a straight ticket voter. I have believed for many years in picking the best candidate, and Cory seems to believe that too. What is best for the people! Yeah! No matter what the issue!

  38. Paladn 2014.05.21

Unfortunately, Rounds will be the next senator from SD. He will be successful in buying the seat and since the multitudes of the voting public enter the polls looking only for the "R" after the name, such will be the case. Add that to the fact that the Dems refuse to organize statewide and the result is pre-determined. Sorry, but let us be realistic.

  39. grudznick 2014.05.21

Mr. Nemec, if volunteers can get somebody to go online and vote for a candidate do you think it might help in that candidate's GOTV efforts and when those young people walk into the booth, what chad will they punch?

  40. grudznick 2014.05.21

Sort of a side cabbage here but it must be really tough for the young Dr. Bos to see the whumping she is getting in these polls. After all the free advertising Mr. H has given out I feel bad for her. I hope she is keeping her chin up and moving forward to support the entrenched people.

  41. grudznick 2014.05.21

On the other plate, in what world does Mr. Rounds get 10% of the vote in the Republican primary? That seems a bit insaner than most. Mr. H, your past polls have not been very accurate and I expect this one isn't either. I believe you have more of the lunatic fringe stuck in your zipper than most.

  42. grudznick 2014.05.21

Even odder is Ms. Hubbel's score. Wow, she is paddling Gov. D's heine with a splintered wooden spoon.

  43. G-Man 2014.05.21

Oregon has it's own "Doctor" running for U.S. Senate. Dr. Monica Wehby just won the Republican Nomination to take on incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator, Jeff Merkley.

  44. Deb Geelsdottir 2014.05.21

Oregon's shade of blue has been deepening in the past few years. I'd be awfully surprised if Merkley lost. Would you agree G-Man?

  45. G-Man 2014.05.22

Deb, Merkley is in trouble over his support of the disastrous roll-out of Cover Oregon and Obamacare. Cover Oregon turned out to be a huge nightmare. It's online enrollment system was plagued from the start leading to mounting resignations and unpaid contractors. Merkley is viewed as "vulnerable," and he won his first race in 2008 by very close margins.

  46. G-Man 2014.05.22

Deb, Dr. Wehby is the GOP's answer to someone with medical experience v. an "Obamacare Lackey," with no first-hand experience in the medical field. Dr. Monica Wehby's campaign against incumbent Jeff Merkley will be base on her first-hand experience in practicing medicine and how "Obamacare is negatively affecting her patients," not to mention the disastrous Cover Oregon debacle.

  47. mike from iowa 2014.05.22

You don't need to be a doctor to be a wingnut pol. Just ask any of the little godalmighties that feel free to interject themselves into women's reproductive decisions,as if they actually knew anything about it. I'm not a doctor-strike one. I don't play one on tv-strike two. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night-foul tip. These idjets are so clueless that one could believe getting hit by a pitch is the ONLY way they can get to first base.

  48. G-Man 2014.05.23

Mike, Dr. Wehby, (R) supports women's reproductive rights. So, I don't know where this is coming from. Maybe you should study the Oregon race. Go to: OregonLive.Com. It's the online version of the Portland Oregonian.

  49. G-Man 2014.05.23

I think the Dems in Oregon are fearful because they haven't started the campaign by taking on Dr. Wehby over the issues, but, from what I and many Oregonians have noticed is that they are attacking her character, first.

  50. G-Man 2014.05.23

Dr. Wehby is a moderate Republican and in Oregon, if the Republicans begin fielding GOP members moderate on social issues, I see them making a comeback in the Beaver State. You have to remember that at one time, moderate Republicans were in the lead here.

  51. G-Man 2014.05.23

Also, Merkley (D) barely won his first term against another moderate Republican in 2008. Stay tuned, I can educate all of you on Beaver State politics, that will have a bearing on the national scene this year, especially in the U.S. Senate.

  52. G-Man 2014.05.23

Cover Oregon is the Dems' albatross and it appears that Dr. Wehby is going to stay focused on this issue throughout the upcoming and entire campaign. $248 million down the drain and little to show the slim amount of enrollees who could get into the system.

  53. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.05.23

Just curious, is this an Oregon or a SD blog? 9 of the last 11 posts are about Oregon. Guess I better unsubscribe.

  54. Roger Cornelius 2014.05.23

    Lanny,

I think this Oregon G-Man is a spammer.

Don't they load up blogs with irrelevant stuff?

  55. G-Man 2014.05.23

LOL, yah right Lanny and Roger! Nice try. But, you know who I am. I've only been posting on here for the last several years, even when I lived in Sioux Falls. And as for "subscribing?" It's free, pssst: you don't have to "subscribe." You crack me up...LOL But, hey it's a free county too.

  56. G-Man 2014.05.23

And Lanny and Roger, while you're at it, can you quit "spamming" your irrelevant opinions as well as you do more often than I every day.....yep. LOL
