Last month, Toby Uecker brought you the debut of Rick Weiland's newest campaign song, "Bring on the Road," as performed live on the shore of Lake Madison at the home of Jeff and Trudi Nelson.
Now the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate releases the official campaign music video version of the Roger Miller refit.
Weiland amps up the delivery—not quite to an Axl Rose yowl, but definitely adding some growly edge over the debut performance at Lake Madison. I like some growl in my campaigns!
The song is a fine follow-up to Weiland's spring single "Everywhere Man." If he releases just a couple more songs, Rick could play the Freedom Stage at the State Fair... or open for Alabama!
Update 12:33 CDT: Team Weiland may not get to open for Alabama, but they will be airing this video on real TV, on KELO News at 6 p.m. tonight.
The coward Pat Powers is green with envy over this ad and whining because a staunch Republican is in the ad for about 2 seconds and encouraging a lawsuit.
He refers to Rick as slick, but when I pointed out that it is Rounds that is slick by doing RNC robocalls on his behalf so he doesn't actually have to personally meet voters, he immediately deleted my comment.
Rick's newest video is already garnering national attention and is featured on Huffington Post.
For someone that has placed Mike Rounds in the senate, he sure seems to be worried about Rick.
Interesting, Roger. Does Putnam's image in the video appear to imply an endorsement? Or does it simply show Weiland willing to talk to South Dakotans of all stripes?
Pat's post definitely shows the Dick Wadhams machine at work, grinding out insults like "slick" and "slimy" to describe Rick just for recording his activities on the campaign trail.
And gee, when Annette Bosworth's campaign produced campaign videos that used my words, voice, and image without my permission, and went much farther than Rick's video by manipulating my image to malign me (Rick's video does nothing like that to Putnam), Pat had no complaint whatsoever. Pat protects his friends and turns on the slime machine when Rounds and Wadhmas tell him to.

The line about "still looking for that guy named Rounds," Is the best.
I wonder if MM Rounds is feeling a little pressure? I can hope. I'm far from knowledgeable in the field of political campaigns, but this has to go very far in distinguishing Weiland from his opponent, AKA- The Invisible Man.
Cory, by all appearances it looks to me like Rick is approaching Putnam or by Putnam's hand gesture they are already engaged in a discussion.

Powers is petty, it is as simple as that.
I received a robo call from Rick yesterday.
The music in the background almost drowned out his words. The words of the song, to me, meshed with his spoken words, that I had a difficult time understanding him.
Please candidates, if you are going to have music as a background in your verbal message, whether as robo calls, advertisements, and etc., please use music that does not contain words.
