Rounds Gets Thune in Ad, Waiting for Daugaard; How About Johnson for Weiland?

Mr. Ehrisman wonders why we haven't seen a big Governor Dennis Daugaard endorsement ad for Mike Rounds for Senate.

Well, Senator John Thune is on the air telling folks to send him Rounds to join him for No Theater:

Be patient: I suspect a Daugaard endorsement ad is in the chute, ready to go after the Thune ad tires the viewers out.

But if the absence of a Daugaard ad for Rounds catches our attention, so should the absence of an ad from Senator Tim Johnson for Rick Weiland. John Tsitrian senses what he calls tepidity from Senator Johnson and other South Dakota elder Democratic statesmen. Tsitrian also links to this milquetoastery from Senator Johnson:

Of course I'm in favor of Rick Weiland, but they're all good candidates and I'll stay away from the politics [Sen. Tim Johnson, in Tessa Thomas, "Senator Stops in Rapid City for His 'Tour of Thanks'," KEVN-TV, 2014.10.20].

Senator Johnson, I appreciate the Lutheran equanimity, but don't give Mike Rounds a grace he doesn't deserve. Now is not the time to call Mike Rounds a "good candidate" or to stay away from politics. You can use this crucial last moment of your political career to make this the last moment of Mike Rounds's political career. You can use you last hurrah to give South Dakota the great hurrah of a candidate as honest and hard-working as you have been.

Senator Johnson, break out the camera. Leverage your gravitas and pathos. Shoot this ad:

I'm Tim Johnson. You've trusted me to work for you for 35 years. I've worked through challenges to live up to that trust and get things done for South Dakota.

Now I ask you to trust Rick Weiland. He'll pick up right where I'm leaving off, fighting for every one of us in South Dakota.

I will miss serving you. But Barb and I can rest easy with Rick Weiland as our next Senator. Thank you, South Dakota [fantasy ad, hopefully airing October 29, 2014].

Say those words to the camera. Play some "Morning in America" music. Push Weiland over 40%.

In a way, DD has dissed Rounds by his own ads, talking of how he has balanced the budget without any gimmicks or tricks. I think that says a lot about Rounds right there and I am surprised that the Dems have not picked up on it.

  2. larry kurtz 2014.10.22

Equally queer is Noem's avoidance of Rounds.

  3. Bill Fleming 2014.10.22

    And SHS's distancing from Rick...

  4. Liberty Dick 2014.10.22

That is probably why you will never get that type of endorsement from Johnson.

  5. Bill Fleming 2014.10.22

Reading the tea leaves this year is pretty frustrating. So few polls being released. We know there are a great many of them out there but none are being made public. What could that mean? My guess is that neither Rick's nor Rounds' numbers are very comfortable. And Pressler, who can't afford to poll and has no idea what the other guys' polls say, is likely doing better than anyone ever expected. Meanwhile the tone at DWC is conspicuously low key, with some already throwing in the Rounds towel. Hard to tell if those are Dem sock puppets, or real live discouraged GOPers. Anyway, hopefully there are some new PPP, Neilson, Harper, etc. polls coming so we can better see what's going on.

  6. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.22

Bill, My guess is that any Progressive Republican or any Libertarian Republican, has thrown in the towel on Rounds before the primary last June.

  7. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.22

Bill, My guess is that any Progressive Republican or any Libertarian Republican, has thrown in the towel on Rounds before the primary last June and that all that he has left is the die hard party firsters.

  8. Bill Fleming 2014.10.22

Lanny, ya think? Tell us more. Is there a GOP enthusiasm gap?

  9. Bill Fleming 2014.10.22

Anyone else see irony in Rounds saying that if Benda was alive today, he'd like to ask him a few questions, while in the same breath telling us that when Benda told him he was going to work for a beef plant investor, rounds tells us he didn't ask him any questions? WTF?

  10. 96Tears 2014.10.22

The pic of Thune and Rounds seems tone deaf to the serious issue in this election: A funny thing happened on my way to the coronation.

  11. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.22

I am just guessing Bill, but at 55% in the GOP primary, and only mid 30% in the general, a two term governor looks like damaged goods to me.

  12. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.22

Bill, I should have added, there are plenty of Republicans who are good honest citizens and not partisan hacks, who are not necessarily party firsters.

  13. Bill Fleming 2014.10.22

Lanny, I believe that to be true. Lots of good, smart, objective, responsible Repubs out there.

  14. Mark 2014.10.22

My hunch has the SD US Senate race breaking at 38/37/22/3, w/ LP & GH's numbers affecting who will be conceding by 11:30 CST. If somebody loses a shoe or if there's a blizzard, then forget about. There might be some clouds in my coffee, but I'm calling it a hunch.

If I'm right, I would like to put in for an autographed pic of Bill Fleming & Grudznick fighting over the last biscuit :)

  15. jerry 2014.10.22

Thune and Rounds, the Mutt and Jeff of comedic politics. What a couple of dishonest creepy men. The only thing these two clowns could pass as legislation would be more of the same corrupt politics that have ravaged South Dakota for 40 years. No theater indeed as these two are the two faces of Eve.

Saw Montgomery's spin job on Rounds' Sgt. Schultz routine about Benda. I'm sure Rounds and Mitch Krebs were pleased with Dave's handling of such a delicate topic, Mike's culpability in a major crime.

Here's the KSOO version of Todd Epp's news story on the Barth lawsuit, which the Argus failed to acknowledge today. The "news" deciders buried the first article on the Barth lawsuit last month on the inside with the area news clips. Apparently Argus readers will no longer be burdened with anything not resembling a Mike Rounds puff piece in the last two weeks of Mike's terrible ordeal, we otherwise call an election.

96, I'm not convinced it's a spin job. Post coming up....

Cory, from the article, "EB-5 provided most of the funding for Northern Beef. SDRC Inc. was given the contract to manage South Dakota's EB-5 program in December 2009, a year before Benda went to work for it as a loan monitor."

They were not given the contract, it was taken by Joop. The article says that Rounds said that Benda told him that he was going to work for one of the investors. How could SDRC be considered an investor. That would be like saying that when a stock broker solicits your investment in a company, he becomes an investor.

An aside, I googled SDRC and came up with this website:
    http://www.sdrc-eb5.com/

When I went there, it has the full Mount Rushmore emblem, the State's emblem and so even though they were/are no longer an arm of South Dakota Government, they give every impression that they are.

  19. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.22

96 and Cory the KSOO article states: "Judge Karen E. Schreier will hold a hearing on the matter at 3 p.m. Monday in the federal courthouse in Sioux Falls." First of all will that be open to the public and second, should we consider circulating a petition supporting Jeff Barth's position, since those addressing Barth's petition are questioning his right to file his petition? I presume he filed it as an interested citizen of the State.

Just called Senator Abourezk and he said that it should be open to the public. He also suggested that I contact the Democratic party and have them organize the petition in support of Barth's petition.

  20. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.10.22

Lanny, I would assume that hearing will be open. bring your notepad!

  21. Douglas Wiken 2014.10.22

Johnson is terminally tepid and certainly not a great thinker.

Thune and Rounds would be two foxes in one chicken coop. The only reason for SD Republicans to vote for either of these twits is the "R" after their names and as Katie Zerr observed, that is not a good enough reason. A good future of the SD Republican party will not be determined by supporting Rounds, Thune, Noem, of Daugaard. In their own ways, they all harm South Dakota.

  22. 96Tears 2014.10.22

Cory – You are referencing the headline used on Montgomery’s blog, but the page 1 newspaper headline today was what Rounds has been saying lately while throwing the dead guy under the bus and getting himself off the hook: “Benda ‘misled’ me, says Rounds.” Hence, the Sgt. Schultz routine.

More importantly, where is the balance in this article if, indeed, it was meant to be a revelation in the ongoing coverage of the Rounds Racketeering Scam (people, stop saying EB-5 because you allow Rounds and the GOP to take the public down a rabbit hole)? If there was something controversial coming from Rick Weiland, you can bet your bottom dollar the Argus would have at least some of the many GOP talking heads to bat Weiland down. There are zero talking heads from the other side on this. None. That’s inexcusable even for a cub reporter. Is there an editor in the newsroom?

To complete the spin job, Montgomery packs this together at the end to marginalize Rounds’ culpability, the serious criminal activities in his administration and the final chapter in Benda’s life:

“Rounds is in a close four-way race for U.S. Senate against independents Gordon Howie and Larry Pressler and Democrat Rick Weiland. He’s been dogged by criticism of how he managed EB-5, a federal program he championed as governor to recruit foreign investors to South Dakota projects.

“EB-5 provided most of the funding for Northern Beef. SDRC Inc. was given the contract to manage South Dakota’s EB-5 program in December 2009, a year before Benda went to work for it as a loan monitor.

“On Tuesday, Rounds refused to second-guess his handling of EB-5.

“Benda died by suicide last October. At the time, he was facing indictment for allegedly pressuring beef plant officials to redirect a state grant to pay his salary, though Benda was maintaining his innocence.”

First paragraph: If Rounds “championed” EB-5, why are we only hearing about it since Benda’s death? There was some incidental coverage, but it is inaccurate to say Rounds championed the program. Answer: Mike knew it would not be received well if the payola-for-citizenship aspect were publicized in relation to South Dakota investments. The funding program operated in the shadows, purposefully, beyond transparency by the press and the public.

Second paragraph: No mention of the critically important no-bid con job Bollen used to secure that contract. That eliminates essential context. Does the Argus have an editor who asks the hard questions before this dreck goes to print?

Fourth paragraph: Even Jackley walked back from declaring it a suicide, and instead attributes that declaration to others. A journalist would at the very least make an attribution to the correct source because of the nature and controversy of this death, or use the phrase "reported suicide" or "alleged suicide" since the Attorney General reneged on his promise to allow press verification of the death report. The second sentence leaves the impression Benda was aware of the felony charges before he killed himself. I don’t believe anyone has confirmed that, or did I miss something? The paragraph gives the impression that “of course he killed himself, he knew he was up on three felony charges. Case closed.”

If we've learned anything about how they do business in Pierre, none of this would have seen the light of day if Benda had not been killed "reportedly by suicide."

  23. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.22

    bear,
All good points, I didn't read anything in the article about Montgomery reaching out to Weiland, Pressler, or Howie for their reaction or comment, the essence of good reporting would want that response from those that oppose Rounds.

  24. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.22

The Rapid City Journal's coverage of this recent revelation was covered in about three sparse paragraphs from the Associated Press.

  25. Francie 2014.10.22

I just got off the phone with two different people from western SD. They told me that, at least on thr tv and radio stations they listen to, Rounds adds are running two to one.

It doesnt appear that final money totals for adds is as important as the time slot they are purchased for so the other candidate cant get recignized. It would be interesting to know who reserved big blocks of time and when they did it.

Could a rich candidate tell a radio station owner that he will buy X amount of time, then also tell the owner that he will buy any time another candidate ask for at the same price garrunteed as long as there is no time for sale in the important slots.

How much money does MMR actually have? Could it be enough to blanket SD media for two weeks?

    The Blindman

  28. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.22

Aren't you all sick of the advertising yet? I walked into Rick's downtown office, (I had either called or emailed them about this earlier). I asked why they were not telling the stations to run there 15 second ads (which is all they could afford to run) further apart. They said they would contact the stations and make sure that they started doing that. Last night on the news, one of the stations ran the same ad back to back. What a waste of money and time and if anything it will sour the voters.

  29. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.22

    Bill,
THAT Rapid City newspaper has reported that Rounds is going into the final weeks with about $600,000 in cash.

  30. grudznick 2014.10.22

Mr. Stricherz, as my good friend Bill would tell you, they need to bookend those ads around a nice ad about sandwiches or iced cream. But hey there, if you can only afford 15 second ads and then pay to run them twice that's like having a 30 second ad, right? Good news for Mr. Weiland. Plus, doesn't he have more money than Rounds now with all the Big, Dark, Special Interest money coming in. That he's against, of course.

  31. Bill Fleming 2014.10.22

People's attention span is getting shorter and shorter. So 15 sec ads are being used more and more.

Grudz actually has an attention span of about 4 or 5 seconds, but the stations won't sell blocks of time that short.

I have some ideas I'd like to test on him, but I can't get him to show up at the studio. Every time he starts to drive here, he ends up either down in Pringle, or somewhere over north of Interior chasing squirrels and prairie dogs and yelling out "you damn blaggards, I'll roast you yet."

I have now idea how he ever finds his way back home.

  32. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.22

    Liberty Dick,
The money that needs to be followed is the $120-$140 million in immigration fees that Mike Rounds allowed to Joop Bollen to abscond with.
The money that needs to be followed is the $167 million in investments to Northern Beef Packers, there was so much money skimmed from the top of that grant/loan package from the state they ran out of operating capital and had to file bankruptcy.

  33. Bill Dithmer 2014.10.22

Roger I think thats money in hand and doesn't reflect yet how bad the GOP wants that seat. If the Republicans dont make a move to court LP in the next couple of days, something I'm sure wont happen, they'll have to stay with the person they brought to the big dance. If thats the case look for some serious money coming from out of state.

    The Blindman

  34. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.22

Bill, you're correct, that is money Mike has on hand right now. Ordinarily outside money isn't counted as a direct campaign contribution.
It was interesting in the Argus interview with Rounds how he danced around the $9 million he said he would raise for this campaign. Perhaps those big GOP donors got wind of a really big scandal involving golden boy.

  35. lesliengland 2014.10.22

96-i have understood from cory's reporting, i think, that benda's lawyer had met with jackley about the impending indictments, so obviously benda knew about it.

  36. grudznick 2014.10.22

You do know me well, Bill, I think I said at breakfast the other day that my attention span seems to shorten every time I

  37. lesliengland 2014.10.22

So SDRC was the state entity, with his and atty Parks' SDRC, Inc. as the follow-up incorporated entity that took EB5 adminstration private. Then a year later Benda was hired as Rounds last term ended. I forgot these details.

  38. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.22

I'm just wondering if John Thune might regret that photo in a few years after the Mike Rounds EB-5 Scandal plays out.
It could be like the picture of Rounds and Joop Bollen.

  39. 96Tears 2014.10.22

lesliengland - Is there a professional reason why, if true, the Attorney General would discuss pending felony indictments with Mr. Benda and/or his attorney before they are made public or before they are served?

This makes me wonder what the AG's motive was. Did he want Benda to do something drastic, like suicide?

  40. Liberty Dick 2014.10.23

    Roger
That isn't the topic of the blog post or my comment. Take your mind out of the EB5 box for a minute. Do you think Johnson is being influenced by his top donor who is also a Rounds donor?

  41. larry kurtz 2014.10.23

Airplane, ICWA, clergy crimes, human trafficking just add to EB-5/Bendagate crimes.

  42. leslie 2014.10.23

96-just guessing that w/ benda a key administration player, when jackley was ready, a good ole' boy tipped off benda as a friend or to avoid embarrassment, benda got a lawyer who started making calls to head off disaster or publicity, and met w/ a staff AG at the capitol to discuss an early plea deal or dispute the evidence.

or, there may have been an "official" desire on behalf of jackley or rounds or their advisors to have a "pre-indictment" meeting. hard to say but someone w/i that administration knew why. there are "unerased" notes in the AG's office.

I would guess jackley now feels personally responsible to some degree for benda's final depressive impulsivity.

  43. leslie 2014.10.23

ld-if u have repub insider knowledge of citigroup Johnson/rounds scandle, fraud, nepotisim-please enlighten and the substantial group here that likely knows more about EB5 as the central. defining rounds campaign issue, quite possibly, will be happy to oblige.

well, there are repubs in the know more, but who aren't talkin, sheltering (aiding and abetting-felony) rounds, daugaard, tidemann, regents, joop, sveen, parks, taylor, ect

  44. Liberty Dick 2014.10.23

Cool EB5 story bro, tell it again...
I am talking about campaign financing and wondering if any of you can think for yourselves for two seconds and consider the thought that Johnson doesn't want to bite the hand that feeds him by going against his top donor's latest campaign investment. It is the simplest and most likely answer to the question of why Johnson hasn't weighed in on the race.

  45. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.23

Liberty Dick, I wasn't aware that Cory appointed you as top cop to monitor comments on Madville to make sure we all stayed on topic. It is likely that half or more of comments on any thread deviate from the subject.

Citi making contributions to both Rounds and Johnson is not unusual, it happens quite frequently when corporations and private donors want to stay neutral in politics. The Citi revelation is no smoking gun.

  46. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.23

You may be right Liberty, but I doubt it. I think it is more than that. TJ is a member of the crony capitalist club that nearly destroyed our country with the repeal of Glass Steagall. As such, he probably doesn't want no stinking populist coming in and ruining their work over the past twenty years, whether it is Weiland or Pressler. Gotta keep a member of the club in power so that they can keep the rest of us heeled.

  47. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.23

If liberty dick would pull his head out of the conspiracy entrapment, he might just realize that Johnson has not refused to endorse Rick Weiland, he maybe waiting for the timing to be right.

  48. Liberty Dick 2014.10.23

Roger, they don't do it to stay neutral and you know it. The big financial institutions bank roll candidates that not only win (90 some % of the time last I checked) but will join the club as Lanny put it. Weiland is a BMW driving Washington bureaucrat and doesn't even know what the average man in SD's life would entail, he is no "populist". He has no chance of winning, financial institutions don't back losers, and Johnson doesn't want to burn any bridges.

  49. JeniW 2014.10.23

How old is Rick's BMW, that is if he has a BMW?

  50. jerry 2014.10.23

    Where are BMW's manufactured?

  51. 96Tears 2014.10.23

Is this all the Republican headhunters like PPPPPPP have? Last minute personal attacks on the car you drive or the house you own? What's next? Attack Weiland's wife and kids? That was in the Thune Playbook against Johnson and then Daschle. Mike Rounds' conduct as governor is fair game. He set it up as his reason to be elected U.S. Senator, and even the most cursory review shows him and his team to be a pack of crooks.

Let PPPPP attack Weiland's car. It defines what kind of garden slug he really is. Anybody got a salt shaker?

  52. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.10.23

    Bavarian Motor Works (Germany)

  53. leslie 2014.10.23

what does rounds drive lanny, troy, grudz, thad, date of purchase, family members that are protected within? please get back to us before 11.04

  54. Liberty Dick 2014.10.23

Keep crying Tears, denial is a tough thing to get over but Weiland is not a "populist" and never will be one. Nor will he ever be a successful candidate of any higher office in SD.

  55. Jenny 2014.10.23

Go ahead then, 'Dick', vote for a criminal. That's your God-given right, by golly.

  56. leslie 2014.10.23

liberty dick-ever see a Mercedes in a ranchers garage, a BMW suv in a ranchers garage ect. so you think Volvos are for granolas, I suppose, Accuras (Honda) ect are for the elite? ever seen a big brand new F-350 in south Dakota?

go hunting and tell me what they are driving. There are about 970,000 hunters. By the way, they spend about $150-175 Million annually.

That might be somewhere in the neighborhood of Rounds' hiree Joop Bollen has misappropriated with Rounds acquiescence. we'd have a better idea if your party would stop the felonious cover-up. I already told you who to suspect.

so far brother you've made no points here, but please try again.

  57. jerry 2014.10.23

BMW's are manufactured proudly in South Carolina, United States of America. I can tell you this, it is no big deal to own one either, in fact, they are cheaper than one of those big ole pickup trucks and suv's like the twerp drives. Take a look around almost anyplace, you can even see high school kids driving them. Pretty cheap when used.

What if Weiland drinks Budweiser? Owned in Belgium
What if Weiland eats bananas? Made in South America or the Canary Islands
What if Weiland drives a Honda? Made in USA
What if he drives a Ford? Made in Canada or Mexico

What kind of rig does the criminal Rounds drive? Where is it made?

We live in a global economy. I got a mailer today from SDGOP about the Keystone and dipshits support for it. Last I checked, the tar sands were in Canada.

  58. Bill Fleming 2014.10.23

So is Lib Dick our ever so clever new Madville troll?
Okay, fine. At least he doesn't call us apostates. :-)

  59. JeniW 2014.10.23

Liberty Dick, are you going to vote for a guy who complains about the federal government, but is the same guy who accepted a federally paid for airplane then flew it for his personal pleasure? If so, that is your right.

Your link does not provide information about what year Rick's vehicle is, or whether he bought it new or used, but it really does not matter. If he got the money by working his butt off to earn it, or legally obtain the money to purchase it, he deserves it.

  60. Liberty Dick 2014.10.23

The "populist" is supposed to represent the average Joe. I don't think being a Washington bureaucrat, making $400k a year, and driving a BMW are very good "populist" credentials. Also just calling the race as I see it.

  61. Bill Fleming 2014.10.23

Libmeister, I don't think you understand what a populist is. Steve Jobs was a populist. So was Walt Disney. They don't have to BE averages Joes. Most of them aren't. They have to be FOR average Joes. Like Rick is. And like I am.

Conversly, a lot of average Joes think they're just like the über-rich 1% ers, and vote that way. That's delusional. You should tell them so. Rick does.

  62. Bill Dithmer 2014.10.23

Jerry, have you priced airplanes and RVs lately? That BMW looks like just a good car thats hard to get worked on in SD.

    The Blindman

  63. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.23

    Liberty Dick,
If you wish to engage me with insults, I'll be happy to accommodate you.
Senator Johnson is retiring from the senate and we don't know just yet what his role will be in Rick's campaign, it is just wait and see. Who knows, the SDGOP will probably run an ad attacking the senator's primary mode of transportation, his wheelchair.
Liberty Dick, I'm hoping you have had an opportunity to see the breaking news by The Nation featuring the most recent Rounds corruption scandal.
Mike Rounds and his cronies have awarded themselves two different grants or loans, one for $900k and another for$771k of state money. Rounds is listed as a private investor in Lake Sharpe Investments, one of the companies that got some big buck, tax breaks, and special permits.
Here's how Republican politics works in South Dakota, you have a corrupt governor that makes grants or loans to the companies of his friends, when it is opportune, the governor joins the company, ethics don't matter here. The governor continues to grant state money to any business that his Republicans come up with, and than when it comes election time those recipients of Rounds welfare make financial contributions to his campaign.
So, when the money go-round is complete, the governor has in essence used state economic development funds, or taxpayer money, to help finance his campaign for senate. Pretty slick, huh?

  64. Bill Dithmer 2014.10.23

BF, the people in SD vote Republican, but they like to live Democrat. Now that is delusional!

    The Blindman

  65. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.23

Since Liberty Dick has made Rick's BMW fair game, let's talk and speculate about just how Mike Rounds paid for that airplane.
Did Joop Bollen pay for it with some of those immigration fees that rightly belonged to the state?
Did Richard Benda pay for it with Rounds' last minute Future Fund grant to Northern Beef Packers?
Or, was it paid for by that misappropriation of $167 million of Communist Chinese investors money that thought they were buying citizenship?
Yesterday we learned that the FBI is still investigating the Rounds EB-5 scandal, I hope they have subpoenaed every bank account that has the name Mike Rounds on it.

  66. Bill Fleming 2014.10.23

Bill D. I've noticed. What's up with that?

I think it goes back to the late 60's. I remember in high school we all thought of each other as equals in little Custer High School. But then a couple of years after I left for college and would come back home for break (1969-71), I noticed more and more, all the kids were kind of dividing into two camps.

If I call those camps "cowboys" and "Hippies" you'll know what I mean without my going on about it. But what both sides forgot was that we really hadn't fundamentally changed. We were all still the same western South Dakota old cowboy hippy kids we always were.

Pretty much libertarian, I guess, but we'd all give each other the shirt off our backs. Most South Dakotans I know are still like that. ... at least until you start talking politics. :-)

I don't think ol' boy Weiland has any illegal money makin' scheme going on like your boy does Dick. So if he's able to afford a nice car legally, it's quite all right with me. He has the wife workin' at the family owned restaurant out yonder in Sioux Falls. So I'm sure the car is all paid for legally and not stolen.

Any car manufactured by a country hostile to US foreign policy is a commie car. Shorty guy Rounds likely drives an Escalade with a deer killer mounted on the front.

If you folks haven't seen Gone Girl yet you'd best get to it.

  70. Jenny 2014.10.23

OMG, Roger! Did this newest Rounds scandal just come out?

  71. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.23

Yeah Jenny, it came out this morning and was posted by Larry on one the first threads of the day.
The Nation reported this new scandal that now needs a name.

  72. Roger Cornelius 2014.10.23

    Liberty Dick

Now that Senator Johnson debunked Rounds Ellsworth lie, what say you?

  73. Liberty Dick 2014.10.24

Take 'em on one by one here.
Ellsworth ad was done by an outside group (not Rounds). They are loosely tying a group that donated to Weiland that once advocated for its closing. Of course this ad is misleading but so is every headline tying Rounds to the EB5 investigation. We all know he won't get charged with anything and a month after the election EB5 will fade from the headlines until Bollen gets convicted.
Self described populists (Weiland) vs. actual populists. Real populists as you have described were people who lived the American dream started with nothing and created something of great contribution to society and still gave back to society. Weiland has been a Daschle/government crony his whole life. Let alone the fact that the Weiland type of populist is the kind that would rather have government run almost every aspect of your life. (Hush little voter Uncle Sam will be here to feed you, cure your diaper rash, and mop up your vomit.) He has the narcissistic mentality that the guberment knows best for you whether you like it or not.
If you all think crony capitalism is something new or partisan I think Obama has a company named Solyndra you might want to invest in.
Lastly why do you all assume I am a Rounds guy simply for seeming to defend him by speaking some uncomfortable truth? Why can't I be a Howie guy with a sense of reality?

  74. jerry 2014.10.24

You do mean Bush and Solyndra, but why bring in truth to bullshit. That EB-5 thingy you bring up though is kind of interesting to me. http://www.argusleader.com/story/davidmontgomery/2014/10/22/fbi-eb5-investigation-active/17731237/

This article does appear to show that the FBI has an on going investigation of your boy Rounds. Now, I am not saying anything about his guilt or innocence, I will let the facts speak for themselves.

You better keep hoping that Uncle Sam continues to look out for the food you eat, make sure that the fabric used to make your diapers, both child and adult, are safe. The continued monitoring and clean up of vomit to stop the threat of disease. That same government that sends you your social security payments that piggyback your Medicare, so you can bitch and moan about government. So hush up and get on down there to vote for those that will continue to bring on that stuff, all of them we hope.

  75. Bill Fleming 2014.10.24

LD, you can go ahead and tell us if you're a Howie guy. Seems like most real conservatives are, at least ideologically. The strange thing is, the polls seem to say that very very few of them are actually going to vote for him. How come?

  76. Jenny 2014.10.24

Your ol' Boy Mike is a crook, Dick. Y'all jist need to git over it. Look up Lake Sharpe Investments and ya'll find the story there. Ain't no one gonna tell me othawise.

  77. lesliengland 2014.10.25

was there manipulation adjusting joop's salary downward to avoid a bid process, if applicable? who was involved, was there a paper trail?

  78. lesliengland 2014.10.25

rick's story isn't written yet liberty dick.

  79. JeniW 2014.10.25

The EB-5 is not the major reason why I would never vote for Rounds. It is something to take into consideration, but it is not the only reason not to vote for Rounds, at least in my opinion.
