Bosworth Recruiting Patients to Pack Courtroom for Pierre Perjury Trail

Hey, Tara! Have you seen Annette Bosworth's letter recruiting her patients to pack the courtroom for her perjury trial in Pierre February 4–6?

If not, Tara, you can view all ten pages here. I'll skip the doctor's recital of the old stories and lies and jump right to her invitation to jihad:

...This is not my fight. It is God's fight....

As I countdown [sic] to my February jury trial, I strive to live out this prayer. The trial for these felony charges begins on February 4th, 5th and 6th in the Hughes County Courthouse in Pierre, SD. Twelve jurors will decide what justice looks like. The recent trajectory of our country didn't just happen. It happened because people stopped showing up to witness.

I humbly ask for you to use your God-gifted-talents. I am praying that the cold courtroom in Pierre will be filled with the warmth from God's people. I am asking for your support in the form of your presence at this trial. If you have witnessed a jury trial, you understand the powerful message supporters send. The power of the presence of supporters in the courtroom strengthens the person on trial, their [sic] family, their [sic] lawyers as well as the citizens serving on the jury. If you have never witnessed a jury trial, come and gain the experience with your own eyes. Help me put purpose to this pain. We will witness to South Dakota and the country that when you trust in the Lord, His people will stand together during times of adversity [Annette Bosworth, letter addressed "Dear Patient," January 2015].

As she did while circulating petitions and in one abortive attempt to lure people to a campaign rally for her husband, Bosworth attempts to recruit help in turning the courtroom into the Jerry Springer Show with food, as well as bus and bed:

Many of God's people have come forth to show their support. Specifically, one supporter wants to help by sponsoring the cost of bus-transportation to get to and from Pierre during the trial. Another supporter offered to help by sponsoring the cost of the hotel rooms in Pierre during the trial. Yet another spsonsor has offered to cover the cost of a daily catered meal for the supporters willing to attend the trial. Pierre, South Dakota in February sounds like a delightful vacation . . . right? We will make it a celebration of support of God's people for those willing to attend.

The strength to stand against an oppressive government only lives on one story at a time. Let us join together as a united voice. If you are interested in attending this celebration, please call the clinic and let us know: 605-371-6899. An email works too: clinic@meaningfulmedicine.org [Bosworth, Jan 2015]

Notice that Bosworth is using the resources of her clinic, which is closely (some would say indistinguishably) tied to her non-profit Preventive Health Strategies, to solicit activism in a public trial related to her activities as a political candidate.

This letter also makes clear that Bosworth has no desire to plea. She wants a trial because she wants an audience. And she's willing to spend (other people's) money to get one.

Who is her lawyer? How does he/she like having a client who continues to do questionably legal things in such an open manner?

  2. Owen 2015.01.10

excuse me Cory I have to get my barf bag...............

And thanks Cory I won't be able to eat all day!
Funny how it's always some body else's money.

  3. grudznick 2015.01.10

I hope the media is there to cover lots of this trial.

  4. JeniW 2015.01.10

It will be interesting to see if her appeal actually works.

  5. Lynn 2015.01.10

Wow! Season 5 of Downton Abbey is airing Sunday nights and for weekday entertainment the Bosworth Trial Circus. SanfordLand or another TV station should broadcast this. Just think of the ad revenue they could get besides the periodic infomercial for Sanford Health, The Event Center or anything else. Is it sweeps week or month?

So playing the constant victim not willing to ever accept responsibility will Annette Bosworth claim the feds want to send her to Sing Sing? Is there a women's unit there or will the feds create one especially for her?

  6. Tim 2015.01.10

I may be in Pierre that week, what's the cost of a ticket to this freak show?

  7. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.10

Tim, you can attend any trial for free. Whether Annette will hand you a sandwich is anyone's guess, but she'll certainly serve you some Kool-Aid.

  8. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.10

Nick, her lawyer for this trial is Robert Van Norman of Rapid City. Her Q3 FEC report showed she retained him with payments of $50,000 from her campaign funds. He'd been doing a pretty good job of getting his client and her husband to shut their mouths. I wonder how he feels now about her use of records gathered in her medical practice to solicit support for a criminal trial unrelated to her practice. Hmm, I wonder how HIPAA feels about that.

  9. Tim 2015.01.10

Cory, after sitting thru 8 hours of that, I'm sure I would need something stronger than Kool-Aid. I may be there either the last week in January or the first week in February depending on how my schedule works, could be interesting for a while, no way I could stand three days of Boz, or Jackley for that matter.

  10. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.10

Hell, even Charlie Manson had his courtroom supporters!

The Bosworth trial will likely eclipse the OJ Simpson trial of the century.

  11. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.10

Well, Roger, Bosworth says in her letter she is sure she will write a book about her Senate campaign. I'm sure a huge, dramatic trial would increase her ability to sell that project to a publisher.

  12. grudznick 2015.01.10

Does that Stranahan fellow, he of the stumpy arms, publish any magazines?

  13. mhs 2015.01.10

Madville needs to create a series of daily polls / pools (better is illegal, after all) for everybody to opine (and win fabulous prizes?) on the trial. Could have the following:

    1. Over / under on how may Boz-ites actually show up.
    2. How many times the judges has to admonish her to shut up.
    3. Whether she gets held in contempt.
    4. Whether she says stuff to the press or makes tweets / posts that conflicts with her testimony during the day.
    5. Whether Van Norman even lets her testify.
    6. Whether she's convicted.

High score wins! Tie breakers could be how many times she invokes God during interviews or, sadly, how much money her scam-machine raises during the trial.

  14. Rorschach 2015.01.10

"This letter also makes clear that Bosworth has no desire to plea [sic]." Just had to throw that in.

If she cops to a felony she loses her medical license. What may seem to us to be a clear legal violation doesn't guarantee the prosecution a unanimous jury. Anything can happen at trial, so fighting it out is probably her best option - especially since she has a bunch of dumb schmucks paying her legal bills for her. Why is it that so many people can't see her for the narcissistic, sociopathic con artist she is?

  15. daleb 2015.01.10

I think there is a way to beat these charges. Its not citing of double standards and persecutions and witch hunts like others dimly chant. But I wont be sharing it with anyone who would help her. A few year stint in Pierre would do her some good, she can get right with God and get her meds figured out. The strategy in beating these charges would be pretty clever, I doubt many attorneys in SD would figure it out. Though I wouldnt be surprised if the AG's office throws the trial. Justice for sale in SD? Say it aint so...

  16. mikeyc, that's me! 2015.01.10

Madvillians, join me in a prayer:

    Please, God, make it stop.

  17. JeniW 2015.01.10

R., many consider Dr. Bosworth physically attractive, she has the art of fundraising down pat, so some people are convinced.

Animals and children are natural appeals, so she mentions her children.

A lot of people are sympathetic of people who are "poor" and suffering, so she mentions the "poor" patients that she treats, and her mission to help the "poor" in whatever country she went to.

The word "God" is appealing to others, so she uses "God," and "pray for me" (or pray for others,) so she uses "God" a lot in her appeal.

Then she appeals to the anti-government/establishment group by talking about how the government has done some wrongdoings toward her.

So there you have it, a successful appeal campaign. If only that would work for so many other organizations that are trying to assist people, there would be more dollars donated to them.

Whether she is guilty of committing a crime, I do not know, that is up to the jury to determine.

  18. Deb Geelsdottir 2015.01.10

Oh for pete's sake! That woman is so pitifully messed up. The way she understands herself in the world is so bizarre!

  19. tara volesky 2015.01.10

Deb, she seems pretty normal to me. MJ is the guy who continues this circus. He could have stopped all of this by settling the case. Go Bosworth............You seldom see a woman push up against the Republican Machine. I hope she kicks their A$$es.

  20. Owen 2015.01.10

well Tara you got the dollar signs right for asses

  21. Not Sure "-) 2015.01.11

Tara - what does "normal" mean to you? If you don't care for MJ, fine. That doesn't mean that three children should suffer in the meantime. This is small town SD. Do you really have insight into this intimately? If you don't, I don't think you or anyone should make any assumptions. Find your passion, for sure but back it up w/ facts.

  22. daleb 2015.01.11

Is weird there is almost a media blackout on this trial. Nobodys really speculating or updating their coverage except for madville. I think something is up with this. If i wanted to throw a case it would be made a lot easier in a media blackout. Maybe she does beat these charges.

  23. tara volesky 2015.01.11

what is normal.......normal is being dysfunctional. I don't think her kids are suffering. I think they really have a strong faith and really don't care about money and that's how they get through.

  24. tara volesky 2015.01.11

I hope they televise it to show how ridiculous the AG office is.

  25. leslie 2015.01.11

SNL needs to follow this. like Roger said: trial of the century. boz and marty deserve each other. wonder if chad is going on vacation then. cweepy

  26. Nick Nemec 2015.01.11

Tara, does SD law allow the televising of circuit court proceedings?

  27. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.11

Dale, I'm not convinced the lack of coverage indicates that the media is in cahoots with somebody. I publish stories on her pre-trial prep because I've followed the case long enough that I feel obliged to maintain a complete record so that when the trial starts and the other media make time to follow, we have our file of documents ready. But even I can envision having a Madville Times editorial meeting and saying, "Know what? She's not news, not right now, not with new bills waiting in the hopper." I'm open to that argument.

  28. daleb 2015.01.11

I don't disagree with you cory but theres really nothing. Google or bing it. In however many newspapers and media outlets there is in SD no news reporting on bosworth.

  29. AugieGold 2015.01.11

I'm curious if she put a solicitation to her defense fund in this letter. She's already done it a couple of times.

Or maybe she hired a national fundraising company to raise that money for her?

  30. 96Tears 2015.01.11

Cory, when was the last time anybody did any serious jail time or paid huge fines for violating South Dakota election laws? Rarely are these matters even brought to court. Even the GOP absentee voting scam at SDSU to aid Sen. John Thune, which was worse than the charges against Bosworth, didn’t put anybody behind bars. Mere slaps on the wrists were meted.

Annette apparently wants the worst possible penalties imposed on her. She’s clearly guilty of the charges, but, so what? She could have admitted signing the petitions illegally and moved on. Jackley has no political or legal reason to give her a soapbox.

The only thing she deserves punishment for is creating a silly drama that has no meaning to anyone. The appropriate punishment would be not rewarding her with attention by the media.

  31. JeniW 2015.01.11

The prey and the predator both laying low until the time is right. Until then there is not much that the media sources to report on.

Does not mean that they are not plotting their strategy plan; just staying quiet for the time being.

  32. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.11

96 brings exactly the editorial room argument that I expect. Indeed, the more she can gin this up into a fight for her life and grand moral crusade, despite the fact that such trials in the past have produced no earth-shattering results, the more she can try to parlay the whole show into a book deal or that reality-TV show that she and Chad keep fantasizing about.

But 96, we need that felony conviction on the record. We need to knock the legs out from under Chad and Annette's ability to intimidate and exploit others. We need to establish for the record all of Chad and Annette's abuses to inoculate the culture to their further infection.

  33. tara volesky 2015.01.11

No Cory, you're going after the wrong people. Bosworth needs to knock the legs out from under Marty Jackley, and the AG's office. Nick, yes, I believe it can be televised, but I am sure no media has any guts to televise it because they don't want to bite the hand that feeds them. This is going to get very embarrassing for the AG and the Republican establishment.

  34. tara volesky 2015.01.11

Google, An Egyptian Crackdown in South Dakota. Great Article.

  35. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.11

We can only hope that it will be televised, careful what you wish for Tara, when trials are televised there as a lot of fill time. Her Medicaid fraud case, her raffle scams, and her fund raising questions will all be talked about, showing her true character. The trial will not be covered and will deal only with questionable signatures and notary lies.
As much as I'd like to see it, Marty Jackley is not on trial here, Bosworth is and Haber should be.
What we do not know and may not know until trial is whether or not the Bosworth legal council has approached Jackley with a plea deal or vice versa. I'm certain Van Norman would not take that off the table regardless of Bosworth's letter saying otherwise.
Face it, Bosworth is all about fundraising.

  36. Rorschach 2015.01.11

Here's the court system's media policy, Nick.

    ▪ Camera and audio coverage is allowed with the consent of the judge and all parties involved. Consent must be in writing or on the record and made at least one week in advance of the proceeding. If any party objects,
then photographic or video media coverage will not be allowed.

    ▪ Consent for audio coverage may be obtained from the judge presiding over the case so long as the request is in writing and made at least one week in advance of the proceeding.

  37. grudznick 2015.01.11

Dr. Bos would make some high ratings on TV. I know Ms. Volesky thinks that all of society has conspired against the pretty young doctor, but I think Dr. Bos is conspiring against society.

  38. Rorschach 2015.01.11

Bosworth thinks she's above the law. She thinks she can run a raffle scam in which she takes money and doesn't raffle the prize(s). She thinks she can sign an oath claiming to be the circulator of petitions that were actually circulated by someone else while she was out of the country. She thinks that the laws don't apply to her, and she needs to find out that they do. Bravo to Marty Jackley for bringing these charges. Now how about charges against the people who diverted a government revenue stream of over $100 million to their own pockets in the state regional center (EB-5) scheme.

  39. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.11

    Rorchach,

Providing all consent to coverage of the trial, who would air it?

CNN and FOX "News" reporters probably have their bags and cameras packed and heading for Pierre.

  40. larry kurtz 2015.01.11

Marty has his areolae in a wringer. Bosworth has been entrapped by the Rounds campaign and now has a forum to air her charges. Larry Pressler should be subpoenaed and be made to ask about his deal with Wadhams, et al., too.

  41. larry kurtz 2015.01.11

    Rorschach = Lauck.

  42. leslie 2015.01.11

    f;;kin republicans

  43. larry kurtz 2015.01.11

no shit, leslie: anyone trusting the political process in SD has his head crammed right up his own assets.

  44. tara volesky 2015.01.11

Will the Notary be subpoenaed. Bosworth will settle, but Jackley won't.

  45. tara volesky 2015.01.11

Larry can you post the Town Hall article or Right side bog?
You know how to post all that stuff.

  46. Bill Dithmer 2015.01.11

" Her Medicaid fraud case, her raffle scams, and her fund raising questions will all be talked about, showing her true character."

Mr Duffy might have something to say on this but the trial is about petition fraud. Unless Mr Van Norman is stupid, he wont go there and open the door to more questions, and will object to anything painting his clients moral character a dirty color.

Is a simple case like this important enough to justify tv or audio coverage? I've got to say that the judge will think its setting the bar to low for the future and say no.

Tara wants the same thing that Annette wants, a three ring circus atmosphere with a chance for a screw up. Meanwhile neither sides atterneys will ask questions they dont already know the answers to, and the judge doesnt want to look like PT Barnum has taken the bench.

Everyone will win except Annette. The state gets a W, her lawyer get some of her money, the Bos looses her med license and pays a fine. Down the road a few years her record is scrubbed clean and she gets her license back.

This is only complicated if you want it to be.

    The Blindman

  47. tara volesky 2015.01.11

Bill, I just want MJ who has a personal vendetta against her like Cory; settle the damn case Marty. You are doing yourself and SD more harm by trying to take Bosworth's License since you couldn't win against her over the last 5 years. Can win em all Marty, especially against a Woman.

  48. tara volesky 2015.01.11

Bill, when are you going to realize, this isn't about Annette, it's about Marty. He want's to run for Governor, but he got some bad advice by not settling this case. She will settle in a heartbeat. Come on Marty do the right thing. Taxpayers can be much better spent than your spending it on a first time candidate that listened to her attorney.

  49. tara volesky 2015.01.11

    Thank you Larry.

  50. larry kurtz 2015.01.11

Since the SD judiciary is on the SDGOP dole one difficulty for Van Norman is to get the presiding jurist to allow evidence implicating the Rounds campaign.

  51. grudznick 2015.01.11

Mr. Dithmer, you are wise beyond your years and your way of putting it down simple helps me.

Don't settle, Mr. Jackley, go for the home run trotter.

  52. Bill Dithmer 2015.01.11

" Bill, when are you going to realize, this isn't about Annette,"

Of course your right. But the fact is she broke the law and got caught doing it. Marty isnt on trial, the plea must have been something less then a slap on the wrist, and he knows he's gonna win. Why would he want to plea a case when he has a win in his pocket to feather his run for governor?

Wishful thinking wont change the way a trial is run no mater how bad you want it.

When we grow up, we know that saying "all the other kids are doing it," wont work when you break the law. I knew that when I used marjuana in SD I was breaking the law, and I excepted the consequences.

Isnt it time Annette Bosworth grows up and does the same?

    The Blindman

  53. tara volesky 2015.01.11

Ok throw the Thune boys and speaker of the house in jail too. Good ole boys rule. Go Girl Power.

  54. leslie 2015.01.11

    b.s. tara.

bvn has likely represented "the pope to hitler and everything in between", but boz is turning out to be a bigger handful than one could anticipate. this is either a joan of arc complex or religious delusions of grandeur.

maybe an insanity defense would be appropriate but the last one i ran for a bipolar client who showed up for trial vamped out in a trim grey wool suit complete with pillbox hat and veil, cigaette holder, literally exploded in the courtroom in front of the jury. she finished out the trial and habitual enhancement phase in an ORANGE suit, cuffs and leg irons. loud and not pretty. won on appeal though.

i am gettin a craycray vibe from boz' latest. she's gonna lose the kids too if they don't get appropriate mental health care.

daugaard's criminal justice reforms don't adress the real problems. ferguson ect shows our whole law enforcement/court/prosecution/legislative system
can't cope w/tech, more and more refined drugs ect/and human behavior based on"responsible choice" and god fictions. human beings are destroyed IN THE SYSTEM in the name PROTECTION FROM hyped fear of crime and 2nd amendment "third rail" fear.

oh well, more guns for dogs, two year olds, more women and class rooms, and concealed carry permits for the high school parking lot car trunks or floor boards. we were better off with highly visible gun racks in the pickup.

shelby, dont make me come out 'der. whutz yer NRA rating mr. legislator. fcs!:( sorry 4 the rant

  55. tara volesky 2015.01.11

    Leslie, are you a Psychiatrist?

  56. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.11

    Bill,
You make all the right points.
Also, it needs to be repeated that this is not a feminist criminal case, it is pure and simple that a citizen, doctor or not, is being prosecuted, not persecuted, for breaking a state law.
It has nothing to do with Marty Jackley or Mike Rounds, any suggested evidence of some grand conspiracy will not be allowed in hearing, it is not relevant to the petition fraud.
In fact, Van Norman, Jackley or the trial judge do not want this to become a circus, contrary to Tara's wishes.

  57. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.11

Bosworth could also go to court and plead guilty to here crimes and face the consequences and end it all, it is not entirely up to Jackley to plea deal this out.

  58. tara volesky 2015.01.11

She already stated she signed the petitions. Bosworth wants to settle but Marty doesn't care, because she is a threat to the Republican establishment and Cory and his followers are marching in lock step with the Republican machine.

  59. grudznick 2015.01.11

It is true that Dr. Bos is a woman. She is not that different from a few others who are insaner than most, other than she's young and pretty. Mr. Jackley isn't attacking women, he is going after criminals who are insaner than most.

  60. larry kurtz 2015.01.11

Marty is a psychopath driven by power and testosterone.

  61. tara volesky 2015.01.11

    Ya Larry, Marty wants her.

  62. JeniW 2015.01.11

What is it that people want or expect the participants of this venue to do about it?

The issue is now before the court to settle.

  63. larry kurtz 2015.01.11

LOL, Tara. Marty makes Eliot Spitzer look fidelitous.

  64. tara volesky 2015.01.11

JeniW, the easy way out is to side with Marty. What part of establishment do you not understand. This blog supports SDWC and the Marty Jackley establishment to take out the female opponents. Settling the case is not an option for everyone involved, they rather team up together and take Bosworth out. One less Woman to deal with.

  65. JeniW 2015.01.11

I am not siding with anyone, that is up to the court. I did not vote for Jackley, and do not support him as an AG or his opinions about different issues.

My question was what is it that you want us to do about the situation?

It seems that the underlying issue is about Cory posting this situation on his blog. I base that on your comment "She already stated she signed the petitions. Bosworth wants to settle but Marty doesn't care, because she is a threat to the Republican establishment and Cory and his followers are marching in lock step with the Republican machine."

If I misunderstood your message, please clarify what you intended.

If Cory had not posted this situation on his blog, where would Bosworth's supporters have gone to express their support of her?

  66. mike from iowa 2015.01.11

Boz is,always has been and always will be her own worst enemy and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it,Tara. Grow a pair and stop enabling her to ruin her life. You are a large part of her problem. I've said it before and it is just as true as ever, she needs to be locked away for her own good. Too bad it isn't legal in South Dakota.

  67. tara volesky 2015.01.11

Mike maybe you need to grow a pair Mr. Republican.

  68. daleb 2015.01.11

I agree with you MikeFI some time in prison would do the doc some good. She could get right with God, get her meds straightened out, and divorce her loser cant get a job husband, and have her parents get custody of her children. Then she gets out, moves in with her parents helps them out on the farm and everyone lives happily ever after.

  69. tara volesky 2015.01.11

daleb, you must be watching to much reality TV. This is on open shut case.

  70. Deb Geelsdottir 2015.01.11

Mike, you meant a "pair" of ovaries, right? I always think it's so bizarre when someone referring to a woman talks about the virtues of testicles. Ick.

  71. Anne Beal 2015.01.11

The only thing that would make this circus more entertains would be Tsra and Annette driving a convertible into the Grand Canyon

  72. Anne Beal 2015.01.11

The only thing that would make this circus more entertaining would be Tara and Annette driving a convertible into the Grand Canyon

  73. tara volesky 2015.01.11

You mean like Thelma and Louise? Anne until the Women of SD step up and support their sisters instead of the male dominance that has controlled this state from the beginning of statehood we just might be able to make a mark.

  74. mike from iowa 2015.01.12

daleB-I actually meant she needs psychiatric help which she is unlikely to get in prison. The rest of your post I'm good with.

Sorry about your sensibilities,Deb,but this is one case where feminism is the wrong approach-imho. Bos needs ever so much more than an enabler and it is past time she and her supporters stop living in denial and get her some help!

  75. tara volesky 2015.01.12

When a man violates a law such as the cases with John Thune's race, and in the case of Brian Gosch, slap on the wrist. With Annette, can anyone tell me why they will not settle????? She gets called crazy along with everything else. Is this some kind of competition with SDWC? DaleB, the correct term would not be an enabler but a defender. I am strictly looking at this as a first time offense. Explain to me why she shouldn't have the same rights and treatment as all the other people that were charged with petition violations. I will repeat, did any of these people go to jail or lose their careers? This is nothing more than revenge and the people are lock step in line with our Government dictators. This is just another reason young people are fleeing SD.

  76. Anne Beal 2015.01.12

Tara, I have it from a pretty reliable source that Annette is the one who won't settle. She's on her 4th lawyer, I understand, having been a most non-compliant client.
Everything that's happened she has done to herself. She is not innocent. She is not being persecuted. She craves attention and will do anything to get it. And she will take anyone she can with her.

  77. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Anne, that's not true, she would love to settle, but the AG will not reduce the felony to a misdemeanor. I have never heard of such a thing. Of course she is not innocent. She admits to signing the petitions. I would like to ask MJ the reason for not settling. You don't have to like Annette Bosworth, and I don't have to like her, but that has nothing to do with this case. I cannot imagine paying an attorney $50,000 when MJ could have avoided all these disruptions. I do think someone will talk to Marty and this whole thing will get settled before the trial. Has any other state actually had a jury trial over a one time offense of a signature violation?

  78. tara volesky 2015.01.12

I am just saying, if you're not in favor with the powers that be, this is what can happen to you. Not good for the people of SD, and look at all the people who are afraid to use their name for fear of losing their job, etc. It happens in local communities too. It's really sad our freedom of speech is limited in SD. Just ask the Teachers in SD. They have been pretty quiet lately haven't they?

Anne, I'd love to have a chat with your source. Hook us up!

  80. lars aanning 2015.01.12

Sometimes we do seemingly crazy things when confronted with a problem that simply overpowers our usually rational way of dealing with life...

  81. Happy Camper 2015.01.12

So true Lars. Just read that in another thread so will that understanding be extended here?

  82. mike from iowa 2015.01.12

The woman is supposed to be a doctor-trained to handle traumas and other icky things. What in her life could overwhelm her "rational way" of dealing with life-assuming she had any?

  83. Happy Camper 2015.01.12

Her life is in crisis. If she were part of "the poor" she would get a pass. Even the non-poor need a little understanding now and then.

  84. tara volesky 2015.01.12

The woman is suppose to be Doctor-trained to handle traumas and other icky things. What in her life could overwhelm her "rational way"..........CAH and his Annette Bosworth haters.

  85. mike from iowa 2015.01.12

    Gee Tara-enable much?

  86. mike from iowa 2015.01.12

Happy C-I understand this woman needs professional psychiatric help. She doesn't need pity or sympathy. She needs a boot to the rear end to get her in therapy so she can pick up the pieces of her life.

  87. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Mike, Hate much? Usually when people say somebody needs psychiatric help their speaking about themselves. You guys think you have all the answers. Do you personally know her? Did you grow up with her or go to school with her. Since when did you become an expert? SD isn't use to having an outspoken woman. It's a Man's state. I think she is doing quite well. Medical Dr., nice family, business owner. A husband that is a fulltime fathers to his boys.

  88. Rorschach 2015.01.12

"Anne, that's not true, she would love to settle, but the AG will not reduce the felony to a misdemeanor. I have never heard of such a thing."

That's one of the funniest things I've read for awhile! EVERYBODY charged with a felony (multiple felonies in Bosworth's case) would love to settle if only the prosecutor would reduce the felonies to a misdemeanor. Why can't everybody just have misdemeanors!? Why? Who has ever heard of someone charged with a felony not getting a misdemeanor plea offer? It's discrimination, I tell you!!! It's because she's a woman!!!!

I bet Marty Jackley would give her a volume discount - plead to one or two felonies and he'll drop the rest. She can have her dumb schmuck contributors pay the fine for her. Heck, maybe she could even talk them into serving her jail time for her.

  89. mike from iowa 2015.01.12

Gee Tara, overdramatize much? I'm an expert because I say I'm an expert. You are next in line to be committed because you hate kittens and puppies and tadpoles etc. See what I did there? I did a Tara, just like you.

  90. tara volesky 2015.01.12

There you go again hiding like cowards behind your fake names. I think they should give her the death penalty. Now are you happy.

  91. tara volesky 2015.01.12

    Jackley Lovers.

  92. Rorschach 2015.01.12

Why must you twist everything, Ms. Volesky? It seems to me that the charges here match perfectly with what Dr. Bosworth is alleged to have done. Nobody is calling for the death penalty. Just accountability. Justice - without any prejudice or favoritism. You offend me with your hyperbolic claims that Dr. Bosworth is being persecuted for being a woman, when she's really just being prosecuted for committing criminal acts.

  93. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Rorschach, then tell me how all the other GUYS got off without a trial or felony charges. I have a right to my opinion just like you. Nobody can answer my questions.

  94. tara volesky 2015.01.12

    Women are discriminated against.

  95. Bill Dithmer 2015.01.12

" Rorschach, then tell me how all the other GUYS got off without a trial or felony charges."

Tara you already know the answer you just dont like it. None of those other guys pissed Marty off.

Ya shouldnt poke a lion with a stick if your both on the same side of the fence.

Mike, you and Rorschach are idiots.

  99. 96Tears 2015.01.12

Hey kids! It’s time to play America’s favorite parlor game: Name that Mental Disorder!!!

To help you along, you can go to the Amazon website and order your fifth edition of the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,” or for short: DSM-5.

You can carry it around in public, kinda like your revised Central Flyway edition of the “National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds.” Except the DSM isn’t for spotting birds, unless it’s the two-legged cuckoo.

Seriously, I know some people who’ve known Annette for years and are loyal friends. They were surprised by Annette’s radical right-wing positions and whacky campaign You Tube clips clutching Bibles and guns. They had assumed she was pro-choice. They knew she had an interest in issues and politics, but were surprised to see her jump into a U.S. Senate race as her first foray into politics. They felt some of her antics were a put on. They think she is a very intelligent person and a great doctor, and they think Annette’s hubby is a big part of her political melodramas. They still like her and wish her well. They also don’t like talking about her troubles very much.

And as much as I’d like to see a political house fall on Marty Jackley for his despicable, irresponsible behavior with the Rounds Racketeering Scam and for covering up malfeasance of office by Jason Gant, I see no evidence he’s handling the Bosworth case inappropriately.

I wish enough of Annette’s friends can talk her down from the high wire she’s determined to stay on. Cory, I agree the AG really has no other choice after this latest outburst but to fulfill Annette’s Joan of Garp fetish and have her convicted of felonies. I hope it wakes her up. I hope the news coverage will be minimal and that she gets some serious help. If her friends are right about her, she can be a wonderful person. I wish her well, but I also wish her to get well.

  100. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Basically what you are saying is don't poke the bear or you go to jail. Women don't speak out or have any opinions of your own. Annette isn't the one with the problem. The people who are categorizing her as crazy and insane are the ones with the problems. Marty Jackley also has a problem with control and revenge.

  101. 96Tears 2015.01.12

Tara, there's a difference between poking the bear and sticking a case of dynamite under it and lighting the fuse again and again and again and again. I don't know Annette and I don't pretend to. I think I'm a good judge of people and that I know extremely irrational behavior when I see it. There's just one ending to this latest soap opera with Annette, and it's the one she created and refuses to let go. If you were her friend, I would hope you had enough sense to help her exit quietly and get professional help from a therapist. She's not cut out for politics, and not because she's a woman. If her name was Andrew, he'd still be extremely irrational and unfit for public office. So you can get off that bandwagon because it's not selling with me.

As to Jackley, I don't know him either. I don't care to meet him. I know enough about him to know he's a shrewd, jaded manipulator who's drooling at the thought of being elected Governor or to Congress. Participating in Annette's spiraling silly dance doesn't advance his career one iota.

  102. mike from iowa 2015.01.12

Time to put your little fantasies to bed,Tara. You've been owned and can't even see it. As for being an idiot, coming from you, I'll gladly accept that.

  103. Happy Camper 2015.01.12

Seems there's a lot of second guessing and missing pieces. Wouldn't you simply want to go back to your practice? She can't with felony convictions? And continues her fight for that reduction? The drama can't help her medical career. Either she's thinking sensibly or not. Fourth attorney? If troubled that should be taken in to account, both here and in court. She's a human being like all of us before political ideology.

  104. grudznick 2015.01.12

Ms. Volesky, it saddens me that you think this is all about the whole world being against women. It is not. Everybody loves women. This is about one woman being insaner than most. Or maybe two or three women. You know I'm on Dr. Bos' side but you have to talk her back off that limb. She has stopped responding to my emails.

  105. tara volesky 2015.01.12

I am not worried about Dr. Boz. You guys are overdramatizing. She is just fine. Practices medicine every day and is very busy with active boys. She will more than gladly pay a fine, but go to jail and lose her medical license. I hope when this is over she files the biggest lawsuit and the people who signed the petitions file a class action lawsuit for harassment.

  106. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Grudz, are you including me as one of the insane ones?

  107. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.12

    And Tara's delusions continue.

  108. grudznick 2015.01.12

No ma'am. There are insaner than you.

  109. tara volesky 2015.01.12

So, because I support Bosworth and pretty opinionated, I guess that qualifies me to be delusional and insane. OK, you people are hilarious.

  110. JeniW 2015.01.12

As an advocate for individuals with disabilities, I have objections to stating that Bosworth, or anyone else has mental health issues.

Unless someone has been diagnosed by a qualified professional as having a mental health issue, he/she should not be labeled as having mental health issues.

The reason why I object is because it does individuals with diagnosed mental illnesses a disservice, and undermines those who have been successful in finding help for their problem, and are productive members of our community.

  111. daleb 2015.01.12

It makes sense what Anne Beal says, that Annette doesnt want to take a plea deal. It also explains the 50k trial retainer. The attorney generals office cannot really reduce the charges to misdemeanors because there are no relative lesser charges. They would be more likely to drop some of them in exchange for a guilty plea on 1 count of perjury and 1 count of delivering a false legal instrument. Which would depend on a judge okaying the agreement. But that gets into the crux of the issue. There are some people that can never admit their fault in anything they do. The judge would require that Annette admit in court on the record that she perjured and filed the false legal instruments. She simply would never do that, its not in her to admit wrongdoing.

  112. grudznick 2015.01.12

Ms. Jeni, I think I read that Dr. Bos has been diagnosed as such. That doesn't mean she is not a productive member or a nice doctor, and I know you know that. I just state it for all the people out there that really don't understand the young woman.

  113. grudznick 2015.01.12

What if we said that "Mr. Gant appears unhealthy?" Would that be a slam on other people who have been diagnosed as unhealthy?

  114. Bill Dithmer 2015.01.12

Sorry Tara, boys just wanna have fun. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0b9WXyiptUA

Anyway, thats what it looks like from here.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave
When first we practise to deceive!

    Yup Walt had it right

    The Blindman

  115. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Oh Bill, can you tell what the deception is. She admitted to signing the petitions.

  116. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Why should she be treated any differently then anyone else you committed the same crime.

  117. grudznick 2015.01.12

Ms. Volesky, she should be treated exactly the same as anybody else who sells lottery tickets and steals the money. Unfortunately, I think her book may include a stint the prison for women. She will be the prettiest girl there, I am sure.

  118. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Was it she that sold lottery tickets or maybe some of her campaign people? You are quick to prosecute Grudz. Should some of the former and present Democrat lawmakers go to prison?

  119. Owen 2015.01.12

    What about the raffles Tara?

  120. Happy Camper 2015.01.12

"She will more than gladly pay a fine, but go to jail and lose her medical license."

So would she lose her medical license if convicted? The jail sentence could be none or minimal.

  121. grudznick 2015.01.12

Ms. Volesky, I was not aware that former and present Democrat lawmakers sold lottery tickets and then stole the money. Can you name some names? Was it Ms. Wismer or Ms. Blake? Don't tell me it was Ms. Tyler!

  122. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Bigger names than that. Figure it out.

  123. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Ya Owen, what about the raffles?

  124. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Is Brian Gosch in prison or the 6 guys that worked on Thune's campaign. What about Pastor Hickey, he screwed something up on his petition, didn't he. Is Mr. Walker in prison. How about Mike Rounds over the $300 thousand dollars?

  125. tara volesky 2015.01.12

Kind of like picking winners and losers.

  126. grudznick 2015.01.12

I think Mr. Walker might be in prison. The rest are not Democrats, to my limited knowledge. Pretty sure Mr. Hickey isn't and he only spelled something wrong. I had no idea Mr. Rounds sold $300,000 worth of bogus lottery tickets. That is insaner than all get out and he should pay it all back.

  127. tara volesky 2015.01.12

That $300 thousand was stealing from the taxpayers.
Can you show me the documentation where Bosworth was charged over lottery tickets?

  128. Troy 2015.01.12

    Tara,

Your defense of Annette and Lora and Mike is informing and confirming. Thanks.

  129. tara volesky 2015.01.12

    Thank you Troy.

  130. grudznick 2015.01.12

I don't think she has been charged yet, Ms. Volesky. I think that's a-comin...I'm just sayin...

  131. JeniW 2015.01.12

You missed my point Grudzie; and I am not going to bother to explain it again.

  132. grudznick 2015.01.12

Ok, Ms. Jeni. I am sorry then and will lie awake.

  133. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.12

Tara keeps asking irrelevant questions about various Republican and Democrats and fails to answer how they affect the Bosworth criminal case. What about Rounds? What about Gant? and the list goes on.
I think Tara owes it to the readers of Madville to start answering some of her own questions rather than making innocuous assumptions about others.
When Bosworth goes to court for he petition fraud, Rounds, Gant, Cory or Santa Claus won't be there testifying about anything. The judge will not say "Dr. Bosworth you are not here to be persecuted because you are woman and a doctor, you are here to face criminal felony and misdemeanor charges".
None of what Tara is asserting is relevant to the criminal case of Boswoth, none of it. We don't know for fact if the state or Bosworth made attempts at a plea agreement.
Tara, start answering some of your own questions.
And grudz, we should be talking Tara off the ledge, not encouraging her to jump.

  134. tara volesky 2015.01.12

I am not going to answer to you Smart Ass.

  135. leslie 2015.01.13

no tara, in answer to yer ques., thats my brother. he likely knows nothing of boz.

anne-jail is prolly not good for anyone. a male imprisoned for deceit may be raped. greater society seems to approve of such consequences of violence in prison.

nobody here can stand jackley after his ENABLING EB5 fraud, destruction of evidence, political and ineffective investigation of rounds, daugaard and joop and many others in state employment, and advising GAOC not to subpeona records and witnesses.

enabling means consciously or unconsciously supporting another to engage in an undesirable act, likely due to enablers' own behavioral problems, ottomh.

  136. tara volesky 2015.01.13

Leslie, unfortunately their are to many people from the 2 main parties that are enabling Marty Jackley. I am all for Bosworth paying a fine in which she already admitted signing the petitions. But to go jail and lose her medical license? That's just plain crazy. I think Jackley is scared Bosworth might run against him. It's a good thing Jackley has the support of CAH and PP to help prevent that from happening.

  137. JeniW 2015.01.13

IF, the court determines that Bosworth is guilty of a punishable crime, she is not going to go to jail/prison. A fine maybe, but not prison/jail.

Whether she loses her license, which I doubt, but is possible, I think that would to be decided by the Medical Board.

  138. Jami reed 2015.01.20

Tara. Annette was stupid enuf to break the law. She will and should be punished. She a FRICKIN disaster. She broke the law and it may not send her to jail for long but she will lose medical license. Tara, are you so familiar with the AG office because of your infamous husband, Ron?

  139. grudznick 2015.01.20

Ms. Volesky, are you suggesting that young Dr. Bos might run for Governor against Mr. Jackley? Why, that is the greatest news I have heard in a very long time. I am going to buckle down on things so that I can be around to watch that happen. I will be a Team Bos captain. Bos for Gov! Put signs on my land now!

  140. tara volesky 2015.01.21

Ya Jami, Bosworth is not denying the fact she signed the petitions. She broke the law, but really hundreds of thousands of taxpayers dollars on a jury trial. Boz would be happy to settle, but Marty has a major problem with her. It quite comical. I think it would be great to see the Dr. run against the Lawyer. There would be no holds barred. She just needs a new campaign team. Grudz, the Honorable Captain for team Boz. Are you game Grudz. This could be fun.

  141. JeniW 2015.01.21

Tara, whatever Jackley's logic and/or motivations are, what can we do about it?

  142. Jami reed 2015.01.21

Ya can't break the law and expect the AG office not to do something. She poked the bear. No one to blame but herself. Tara, r u still living w that coach? R u still married to Ron? Nice guy, out of control alcohol problem. Legendary and sad.

  143. tara volesky 2015.01.21

JeniW, I still hope Jackley will settle before the trial. Bosworth admitted last summer she signed the petitions so there really doesn't need to be a trial. I am sure she learned a lot jumping into a state-wide race. I just hate to see people leave SD or not get involved in politics because you have a few crazies that can't talk issues so they try go after your family. People like that can't look at themselves, so they attack others. I hope I never stoop that low.

  144. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.21

"Boz would be happy to settle"? Tara, there is no evidence of that. The above letter is evidence to the contrary: she wants a trial, she wants a circus, she wants to be on TV again.

"No holds barred"? What, like the no-holds-barred campaign her husband ran against Jackley? Pffft. Chad put a couple silly things on line, held that fake pot rally to lure people into hearing his campaign speech in Brookings after Labor Day, then disappeared. Chad hasn't even figured out how to file his campaign finance report. Chad and Annette have no idea how to mount a genuine, effective South Dakota political campaign. They only know how to call Base Connect and get the money they fleece from retirees in other states.

  145. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.21

I would hate to see Chad and Annette leave South Dakota, because that would mean they'd be going somewhere with easier marks who don't recognize them as scammers. They should stay here. In jail cells.

  146. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.21

And hey, Jami, same rule for you: no need to involve commenters' spouses here. Irrelevant to the matter of public concern under discussion.

  147. tara volesky 2015.01.21

Cory, that's fine, even though we disagree on the Bosworth ordeal, I do appreciate your blog and admire you investigative journalistic skills. SDWC and Troy Jones were not to friendly with Ricks fundraising. Candidates and non-candidates along with non-profits usually raise money for good causes. I despise the millions of dollars that campaigns and candidates have to raise. What would be wrong with going back to public elections and set a limit?

  148. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.21

I'd be fine with limits that would prevent folks like Base Connect and Bosworth from exploiting the electoral system for personal profit. I'd be fine with hoghousing the petition reform bills to shorten the election season and thus reduce the time candidates have to spend on the road.

  149. Jami reed 2015.01.21

Ron Volesky is the Annette Bosworth of the Democratic Party. He has to himself up for discussion MANY times. It's not a secret...

  150. caheidelberger Post author | 2015.01.21

...but it's not terribly enlightening on this topic, is it? I appreciate your agreement with me that Bosworth deserves every book the AG and the court can throw at her. Bringing up Ron adds no weight to that argument.

  151. tara volesky 2015.01.21

Anybody who deals with addiction or alcoholism, it's very sad. There is a great program called Face It Together whom I give great credit to Kevin Kirby who has helped a lot of people with addiction problems. Kevin knows because he is an addict himself who has overcome his past demons by surrendering to the fact he is an addict and now helps others. Pat O'Brien came forth and told his story on 100 Eyes and Opra Winfry. Instead of stigmatizing and getting joy out of shaming the addict, Face It Together works with families, communities, and businesses to help take away the stigma of YOU Are A Bad Person. Instead the counsel and support to help get them well. People like Jami love to shame and kick people when they are down. There was a prominent businessman who was just sentenced to 60 days in jail for using drugs. He is a good man with a wonderful family who just happens to be an addict. I hope the best for him and his family. I believe most people have family or friends who suffered themselves with some kind of addiction. I have great empathy for people and families who suffer. Takes one to know one.

  152. Jami reed 2015.01.21

Just asking some questions about... [CAH: No, Jami, you aren't "just asking." You're unnecessarily attacking Tara and Ron. Casting aspersions on Tara does little to disprove the statements she's making about Bosworth. Talking about Ron does absolutely nothing to help us understand the truth about Bosworth. We can much more effectively disprove those statements by talking about the evidence of Bosworth's own crimes.]

  153. grainofsalt 2015.01.26

Sending the "Dear Patient" letter was NOT professional. There are boundaries and that crossed it. You don't burden your patients with your personal difficulties and beg for their time and support. Annette doesn't seem to get this simple truth. These kinds of things do her no favors.

  154. tara volesky 2015.01.26

I think she sent letters to her followers. Some of the could be patients. RW sends fundraising emails and I am sure some of them go to is customers. I don't see a problem.

  155. JeniW 2015.01.26

Tara, I think I sense your frustrations, and my dig at you did not help. For that I apologize.

There is just nothing that anyone participating on this venue can do to assist Ms. Bosworth, even if they wanted to. We could not do anything for her for the past several months, and there is just nothing we can do for her now, or in the foreseeable future. It is before the court to determine whether or not she is guilty, and what the consequences will be IF she is determined to be guilty.

Continue to advocate for her if you wish to do so. It is your right, and she probably appreciates it, but know that there is no hope of anyone here being able to do anything for her.

Just like everyone else, you have to chose your battles, and your battlegrounds, do so wisely.

  156. tara volesky 2015.01.26

Thanks JeniW, you are probably right, it's out of my control. I can understand why people don't get involved with politics. It's just hard for me to surrender to the powers that be.

  157. Roger Cornelius 2015.01.27

The Bosworth trial has been postponed until mid-May at the request of her defense team.
