CPAC Spokesmodel Tells Gov’t to Stay out of Her Body and Health Choices

I didn't expect today's blog cycle to be the Thoughtless Comments from South Dakota Republicans series, but the hits keep coming.

Facebook friends share comments made at CPAC by Rapid City-born, San Diego-based former Noem intern turned conservative spokesmodel Tomi Lahren, who, in response to the charge that the GOP is the party of old, rich, white males, calls Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren men:

So, I think we’ve gone through this: Old, rich, white males. I want to remind you, let’s look at the top three Democrats for 2016. You’ve got Hillary, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden? Old, rich, white, and if the pantsuit fits, male too? [Tomi Lahren, quoted in Tony Ortega, "CPAC Speaker Calls Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren 'Old, Rich, White Males'," Raw Story, 2015.02.28].

Such absurdity warrants no rebuttal. But warranting more attention is Lahren's pro-choce declaration:

See, women like Sandra Fluke will have you believe the only way to be pro-woman is to lobby for free birth control. But, sorry, hun, I’m a Republican, and I can take care of myself. And besides that, I don’t know about you, but I don’t really want the government anywhere near my body or my health choices, because have any of you seen how Obamacare or ‘healthcare dot dud’ has been working out? [Lahren, in Ortega, 2015.02.28]

Lahren cites her South Dakota upbringing in her speech to boost her down-home cred, so she must stay in touch with South Dakota politics. She must know her Republican kin back home have passed all sorts of laws dismissing the notion that little ladies like her have the mental wherewithal to take care of themselves.

But CPAC and the conservative media don't pick speakers like Lahren for their rhetorical rigor or mental acuity.

Just another SD republican hack proving to the world what SD really is.

Ever since Sarah Palin, it seems every Republican female is trying to out-snark the other, not well thought out comments but just snide digs. Palin, Ingram, Colter, Fiorina,... A lot of hatred, but still no solutions!

Ms. Lahren ... Obamacare has all but ended medical bankruptcy, stopped runaway premium increases and leveled the playing field by inserting competition into the medical insurance industry. Thank you for pointing out how well it's working, especially in the states with thriving exchanges. (e.g. Colorado) Within two weeks SCOTUS will reaffirm it's place alongside Medicare and Social Security as a hallmark of liberalism and USA's commitment to the middle class. PS ... South Dakotan's can receive assistance paying for their health insurance at healthcare.gov even though their Governor has denied them a state exchange.

Blond bimbos with pretty faces and empty heads have been recruited and promoted by GOP special interest organizations for years. Many of the attacks on Clinton were a result of getting these blondes into network broadcasting where pretty faces and perky breasts are more important than intelligence or sense.

Richard Mellon Scaife and others dumped a lot of money into "journalism" institutes.

This daffy gal reminds me of Victoria Jackson from SNL.

Or, what Dan Akroyd would say to Jane Curtin...Shut up you.....

I watched the video of this twit's speech that is floating around Facebook. She says she does not want the government anywhere near her body. Yet, she aligns herself with the party who wants to legislate her uterus. Powers must really not be paying attention. The only times our state makes national news is when the conservative idiots speak.

Too many like, our own Kristi Noem, rode the Sarah Palin train to power leveraging the 3 P's.

    Pretty, Platitudes and Puerile.

What young miss Lahren might not realize is that her hypocrisy hurts women.

It may do really good things for her and her popularity with the extreme right and be a career builder for her, but she is not only comes across as a poster child for hypocrisy but she also makes women look like tools of the extreme right.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid.

If there is a God there will be a debate between Sandra Fluke and Black Hills Barbie.

    I'm in for ringside seats.

Careful Wiken...I'm blonde...(yes there is an 'e' at the end for those who come by it naturally and prefer the snobby spelling)

CPAC provides the platform of hate. All of our money goes to protect those that hate us taxpayers. We do not have enough to build our own infrastructure because we send it to those who spit in our face. In 1996, Bibi addressed congress, and here is part of what he said.

"We are deeply grateful for all we have received from the United States, for all that we have received from this chamber, from this body. But I believe there can be no greater tribute to America's long-standing economic aid to Israel than for us to be able to say: We are going to achieve economic independence. We are going to do it. In the next four years, we will begin the long-term process of gradually reducing the level of your generous economic assistance to Israel. I am convinced that our economic policies will lay the foundation for total self-reliance and great economic strength."

On the 3rd, he will address it again. To try to force our hand into more endless war to keep he and the rest in power and to drain our blood and treasure yet again.

Jana, please save me a seat.

Jana may be a real blondE, but I am not sure about Laura Ingraham?, et al. Some TV stations pressure female TV personalities to get breast implants as well. Sexism is alive and well and it still sells a lot of junk and mythology.

Palin is not blond, but she was recruited as potential right wing TV personality by one of the groups.

Western Journalism Institute or something like that may have been the hatchery for blond TV chicks.

Fake Noize takes on all kinds of bimbos as long as they spout the party line.

D Wiken-interesting letter you posted about KXL. I copied and pasted your summation to sites in Texas and Alaska with name and blog listed. Hope you don't mind much.

  17. Jana 2015.03.02

    ;-) Mr. Wiken!

You are right on with "Sexism is alive and well and it still sells a lot of junk and mythology."

  18. Deb Geelsdottir 2015.03.02

Thanks for the Wisconsin link Mike.

The article mentioned a 2013 surplus in WI. That mainly came about due to drastic budget cuts that added a lot of pain to the 99%. While "fiscally responsible" Walker has his state skipping loan payments, MN has a $1.5 Billion surplus.

  19. Anne Beal 2015.03.02

The difference is the Republican women have brains, and don't get pregnant by accident. Because a woman's got to be really dumb to allow that to happen. Like a Democrat.

  20. leslie 2015.03.02

    wow

  21. Deb Geelsdottir 2015.03.02

Leslie, when one has no real ammunition, like Ms. Beal, one simply shoots hot air from one's mouth. I pay no attention because the mouth-shooter-offer has forfeited being taken seriously.

Anne, I do appreciate it when Republican women like you make clear what really motivates the GOP's politics. But Anne, did you mean to call every couple who has experienced an unplanned pregnancy "stupid"? Or did you really mean "morally inferior to paragons of virtue like myself"?

  23. Deb Geelsdottir 2015.03.02

    Hahahahahahahaha! Well put Cory.

  24. mike from iowa 2015.03.03

Snowdrift Snookie and daughter Hot to trot Bristol say hello,Ms Beal. So does Pat Robertson's wifey.

Wingnut women have a hidden secret. They are like pianos-when they're not upright they're grand.(I stole that from Benny Hill)
