Today’s Syllogism: Kristi Noem Not Conservative

Chew on this perfectly logical reasoning over your lunch hour:

  1. Conservatives must vote against the latest continuing budget resolution.
  2. Rep. Kristi Noem did what Speaker Boehner told her and voted for the latest continuing budget resolution.
  3. Ergo, Rep. Kristi Noem is not a conservative.

As I said to Tyler this morning, it must be awfully hard to be a Kristi Noem fan.

Check out the full roll call here, which finds Tea Bag faves Bachmann, Paul, and West voting with flaming liberal heroes Kucinich, Lofgren, and Weiner. Yay, bipartisanship!

Bonus Conservative Groaner: Congresswoman Noem is begging the big bad federal government for money to save us from our floods. What ever happened to self-reliance? Oh, wait, that's Governor Daugaard's catchword. He's all about dealing with the floods without any interference from those pesky feds.

Sad to see Giffords name on the not voting list. Horrible situation.

Noem will be walking a fine line until 2014. I'm a huge Allen West fan because I believe he is very dedicated to his cause.

Noem is whatever she has to be to whomever she needs to get a check or a vote from.

I was very surprised to find such luke warm support for Noem from the legislators I talked to when I was out there. Seems they don't really feel that close to her even though she worked with them for 4 years.

Legislators in Pierre are very luke warm. (haven't been to DC but I'm sure they still love her - especially leadership)

I don't know if Bachman is a train wreck or a good person. She at least doesn't fall in line with leadership just to climb the ladder.

    Cory-

Don't worry, I don't think it's hard to be a Noem fan... in fact, I provided my reasoning over at the SDWC as to why I think it's perfectly reasonable to support Representative Noem's decision to open up an office in Watertown, rather than Aberdeen.

But, that's not why I'm here. Did it hurt doing all that twisting and turning with the post above?

While I do respect Mr. Randazzo, I'm a little surprised that you think he's a defining voice of conservatism. What Mr. Randazzo doesn't realize is that rather than voting on a budget right away (which wouldn't allow conservatives any time try and achieve the goals that he mentions (defunding Obamacare, EPA climate change and other regulations, Planned Parenthood and National Public Radio)), a continuing resolution gives conservatives who want the above mentioned goals more time to try and accomplish them, and at the same time, gives the government to provide the necessary services that it needs to. (Sidenote: you say that Representative Noem "did what Speaker Boehner told her" and voted for the continuing resolution. Really, you don't think that Representative Noem could have made her own decision to support the CR? If you don't think she can, it's getting awfully close to you insinuating that Representative Noem isn't a smart enough to make her own decisions and has to rely on a man to make those decisions for her).

Finally, on your little "groaner" section, you leave out the fact that Representative Noem AND Senator Johnson AND Senator Thune have asked for the flood prevention money to be approved as soon as possible. See, I don't know about you, but that sounds to me like it's a bipartisan effort to make sure that residents of the state of South Dakota who live in flood prone areas are able to make sure that homes and businesses are able to stay dry, and I would hope that our representatives could work together to try and protect the property and well being of South Dakotans. But that's just me.

Oh, one last thing... you mention that Governor Daugaard wants to deal with floods without "any interference from those pesky feds". Well, I'm going to chalk this one up to you just not reading the press release all the way, because in it, it actually mentions that he will in fact be joined by representatives from FEMA and the Army Corp of Engineers. Do I believe that South Dakotans shouldn't rely on the federal government to provide everything? Absolutely... but, situations exist where the federal government can provide more than a state can, and this is clearly one of them.

Not to mention that getting a federal designation allows an area to get aid and assistance they pay for with flood insurance. Tyler, as you know, it is easy to support KN. What is hard is educating those who don't want to know the facts.

    = Therefore, Vladimirsky is a poopy-bird.

it will be interesting when Tim Scott starts to side with the base and Noem still sides with the Leadership.
