Before I compose a full post on Bill Janklow's announcement that he has terminal brain cancer, I yield the floor to the former Governor and Congressman himself. Here is the video of his 13-minute press conference, delivered Friday from his law office:
I gave a damn about what I did. I enjoyed it. And I did what I felt was right, and if I had it to do over, I'd do everything I did except I'd stop at a stop sign [Bill Janklow, press conference, 2011.11.04 (timestamp 12:00)].
So many times I recall Mr. Janklow coming on the television screen and thinking "Oh God, now what?" Frequently I would find myself not exactly on his side (to put it mildly.)
This is different. Same question, perhaps, but this time I'm pulling for him all the way.
Hang in there, Wild Bill.
shades of Alexander Haig....
