Vargo for Pennington County States Attorney: Forward the Debate-Coach-ocracy!

Mark Vargo has announced his candidacy for Pennington County State's Attorney. Vargo says the office is in a rut and that current state's attorney Glenn Brenner is more interested in making headlines than good prosecutions.

Vargo is a Republican. So is Brenner. I always enjoy watching Republicans wrestle.

Vargo is also a debate coach, having led the Rapid City Stevens debaters in their cross-state crusades. The world needs more debate coaches running the show... not to mention debate coaches with really good taste in t-shirts. Vargo thus has my unconditional support. (Now Mark, tell your people to get that website up!)

I wish Mark well. He's a good guy who has added a lot to the South Dakota debate community.

I am worried that our endorsements will be the kiss of death.

Perhaps Vargo been politically unwise in his choice of friends. Let's take that as one more sign of his merit. :-D

Not to worry guys. So far, there are no announced Dems in the race. Vargo could (effectively) win it in the GOP primary without a single liberal, New Age, socialist, demonic, Knights Templar, New World Order, Unicorn Ranch, debate-coach vote.

Humanity would most certainly be better off if Vargo would follow the productive course of teaching young folks to debate and get out of the business of putting pot smokers in prison.

Pot smoking is against the law, Mr. Newland, but prison seems a little harsh. Maybe a few months of jail, sure, but not prison. Maybe even just being forced to pick up trash in ditches and take that drug that makes you puke like a dog for months if you smell weed, but not prison.

Now...if you're growing weeds or schlepping big garbage bags of rotting leaves around to pollute the minds of my great-grand-children? Then prison.

As is typical, Grudznick weighs in with his cowardly nom-de-plume saying unsupportable, ludicrous stuff.
