Noem Town Hall Wednesday, 4:15 p.m., University Center, Sioux Falls!

Amazingly, after four weeks of recess, Rep. Kristi Noem has finally worked up the courage to appear at an open town hall meeting. Intrepid reporter David Montgomery reports South Dakota's lone Congresswoman will hold court on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. at Avera Hall at University Center in Sioux Falls.

As usual, we get barely any notice that this event is happening. Kristi doesn't make it easy for working people to rearrange their schedules and come see her. She doesn't even mention the town hall on her official events page (at least not this morning... but stay tuned: maybe she'll write it in after the fact to make herself look busy). As with her unannounced telephone conferences, Kristi speaks when she finds it convenient, and expects us to all jump when she says so.

Still, this impromptu town hall is better than nothing. If you can get off work, get over to University Center tomorrow afternoon and ask Rep. Noem some tough questions!

I'll give some pointers on how to ask (tough) questions if anyone is going.

    1. You could go the GOP route and act like an 8 year old and shout and scream and do all that but I frown against it.

Assume you will act your age

    1. Practice your questions before hand. Have them either written down or memorized.
    2. If a microphone is being used try to keep it to ask a follow up question. Don't interrupt rudely but don't let her go off on talking points. Say politely something like no I want an answer to the question not a talking point.
    3. Be prepared to defend it, I've been at a few of these where the elected official tries to play to the crowd and try to put the question back at you. So study the issue, know some facts.
    4. Be ready to call her out if she is wrong. Medicare, Farm Bill, etc. She has a tendency to stretch "lie" about the truth.

I don't think I can make it, but if someone is willing to go and video tape it and post in online I'd appreciate it.

Maybe she has finally realized that her support has eroded to the point she could lose and become a one-termer?

The session may now be full term, but Noem is at best half term.
