Nelson for House Majority Leader! Kloucek and Powers Say So!

In a hilarious turn of blog events, Republican blogger Pat Powers gets so wrapped up in his ongoing vendetta against outgoing Democratic legislator Frank Kloucek that he ends up basically endorsing his Republican establishment's most dangerous nemesis in Pierre, Rep. Stace Nelson.

Kloucek sends out an amusing little missive endorsing Republicans Stace Nelson and Bill Van Gerpen for GOP leadership positions. Van Gerpen beat Kloucek for the District 19 Senate seat; incumbent Nelson was the top vote-getter for District 19 House. Says Kloucek:

The hard right wing of the party needs more representation in the halls of the capitol. You get more done with honey than vinegar. This proposal would help reduce the friction in the party. It is clear that the fastest growing section of the Republican Party needs representation in leadership.

...It is time to put the ideology first and there is no better way than by electing Stace and Bill to leadership positions. It is time to give the people what they demanded [Rep. Frank Kloucek, press release, 2012.11.16].

Powers spits soup all over his shirt in his haste to bash Frank one more time:

“The hard right wing of the party… the fastest growing section of the Republican Party.”

Frank obviously doesn’t like the fact that he was beat by just plain old Republicans, so he’s doing his best to marginalize them.

...“It is time to put the ideology first…. It is time to give the people what they demanded”

I don’t think the people demanded ideology as much as they wanted someone who could actually propose and pass legislation. Unlike Frank [Pat Powers, "Frank Is Serving Up Sour Grapes and Bitter Tears for Lunch Today," Dakota War College, 2012.11.16].

Mark that, GOP caucus: Pat Powers just called Rep. Stace Nelson a "plain old Republican." The most prominent blogospheric sycophant of the GOP powers that be, who absolutely loathe Stace Nelson, just declared Stace Nelson a legislator who can get things done.

Dang! When Powers and Kloucek agree, it's a sign from either God or Nemesis: Republicans, elect Stace Nelson to the GOP caucus leadership!

If you doubt Nelson's fitness to lead the House majority, consider: Stace Nelson fought a primary challenge and a contested general election. Nelson got more votes than Speaker pro-tem Brian Gosch in both the primary and the general. Nelson won more votes than any other Republican House member who faced a challenge on the November ballot. Jim Bolin from Canton is the second-highest challenged Republican House vote-getter. Nelson and Bolin: how's that for a leadership team?

Stace Nelson is arguably the most popular Republican House member. The GOP caucus may want to consider that unnerving fact in their caucus election tomorrow.

Unfortunately or fortunately the legislators don't base their votes on who is most popular back home but who is most popular in class.

I understand PP's bitterness at his own personal and professional failures. Frank is being downright funny and light-hearted. Everybody can see that. PP created a big state scandal and got the boot from his government job because he was running his campaign consultant business from the second floor of our State Capitol. I suppose he's still grumpy.

Talk about bitter tears, PP. So bitter. So bitter. :-o

I bet if Stace formed a PAC and gave $200 to every legislator's committee in the House he could get elected to a leadership position.

If this god you speak of wants young Mr. Nelson to be a leader then she will materialize a Bodhisattva statue with a former Marine emblem tattooed on its sloped forehead and make it about 5'6" and facing to the left.

PS: More digging along the east rim of Spearfish Canyon will settle all these issues. Dig now.
