Millner’s Lake County Dairy Delinquent on 2011 Property Taxes

Hey, you know that big dairy operation up by Ramona whose management has a history of breaking environmental rules and dodging taxes? Lake County Dairy LLC, managed by Rick Millner?

Guess who's delinquent on Lake County property taxes:

The Lake County property tax database lists 416 of its 10,340 tax records as having "delinquent taxes on this parcel". As shown in the records above, the six parcels owned by Lake County Dairy, LLC, are listed twice as delinquent, since apparently no one in manager Rick Millner's office has bothered to pay any of the taxes due for 2011, the first half of which would have been due on April 30, 2012, and the second half of which would have been due on October 31, 2012. These six parcels include the old Swier apartment building at 150 East 4th Street on the south side of Ramona, which I find listed in various directories but not in the Secretary of State's corporate database as "Lake County Dairy Housing."

I checked with the Lake County Treasurer's office. The office assured me there is no clerical error here.

Once again, Rick Millner is not following the rules. He's already stiffed one local contractor for $23,000. Now he's cheating all Lake County taxpayers. Lake County, you were warned.

SD big Ag dairy at work! If no money to pay taxes, the assumption has to be made there is no funds to clean a manure spill? Why wasn't this operation bonded before a CU permit was granted by the county or the general livestock permit granted by DENR? Where is the sense of responsibility associated with this operation?

Charlie, we might need some concerned citizens to bring these concerns to a county commission meeting. The point you make about not having the money to clean up a manure spill eight miles upstream from Madison is very important.

Shhhhh! Be quiet Cory. State government will probably see this as a call to action to throw a taxpayer grant at this dairy to protect SD jobs. You and I may end up paying these taxes.

Economic Development at its best, thank you, Governor Dugguard! Thank you for moving South Dakota forward! What a bunch of b.s.. Uphere in Grant County, we'd like to see bonding for roads, manure spills, etc, only to fall upon deaf ears. It would be good to have more people see whats happening when these factory farms want to build in their neighborhood and the consequenses thereof, to get more people informed! The"not in my back yard" or "nimby" must be replaced, with information about the facts of these operations impact on the local economy and enviroment. The more people that are informed, the more we can stop these factory farms from competeing with local farmers. Local farmers spent money in there communities, the factory farms haul it in and haul it out, and spent very little money locally. But caheidelberger, your concern is real about a manure spill, its not if it happens but when! And the taxpayers will end up cleaning up the spill! And how do you clean up manure in the aquaifer? And some day maybe they'll build a big dairy, say a mile north of Madison? If it meets the regulations of a cafo, its possible! I don't want manure in my water, as you don't, but more people need to be informed as to what could happen! Prevention is worth a pound of cure! Just remember if there is money to be made in livestock, the farmers would be growing them, but the political wheel is a hostile environment to farmers! The Govenor should be helping them instead of kicking them in the butts out the door! Why would the Governor bite the hand that feeds him???

Can someone answer my question which ive been wondering for quite sometime.
How come Mill Valley has 1200 Cows and needs a lagoon, bonding for roads, ect...and Joelie and Robb across the county have 1200 Cows but there not required to have anything in place, is 1200 cows mean something different because MillValley is dairy and Joelie is Beef? Cows are Cows.

Millner’s Lake County Dairy Delinquent on 2011 Property Taxes
    Not a surprise for me.
I went on the South Dakota Secretary of State website.
The filing at the request for Lake County Dairy,LLC is Gail E. Partlow Leonard Street and Dienard, 150 South Fifth Street STE 2300, Minneapolis,MN 55402. Which is from the law firm Leonard Street and Deinard which has a the shareholder Bryant D. Tchida. Leonard Street and Dienard was listed as one of the Veblen Eest Creditors in Documents Case: 10-10146 Document: 116 Filed: 07/21/10 , page 58 in United States Bankruptcy Court, District of South Dakota. Also on the file for SD Secretary of State , Michael C. Wyum is listed as the signature of an Authorized Person. Michael Wyum was a member of the Dairy Dozen-Veblen,LLP, which is listed as delinquent on the SD Secretary of State website. This is the business that was involved with Veblen East Dairy that went bankrupt and did not pay many growers, including my farm. So when I hear that bills are not being paid from another business where Richard Millner is involved with, it is infuriating . So, if any one challenges Richard E Millner involvement with Lake County Dairy, this should be enough proof.
Come on People. Speak up. We pay our bills. Why shouldn't they.
Write to your SD Governor and your elected Politians to express the need to insist the delinquent bills get paid. It is your state, South Dakota.

I will have to answer Tom W. as no one else seems to. Twelve hundred cows - milking are 1.4 animal units. 1200 beef cows are 1 animal unit. Now the problem here is Hick's have feeder animals. I know they spend time on pastures for the summer months. I think if you count the cattle at Hick's you will see 800 or 900. They have straw in their manure and spread it on their fields. And as you don't milk feeders, there are no milk trucks. And there are 3 family members doing the work. Quite a difference from 1200 milk cows.

Are you the Gail in Gail E. Partlow from Leonard Street and Dienard or another Gail?
My question is still the question about the delinquent taxes owed by Lake County Dairy. Cows are cows! Bills are Bills! Lake County Dairy , Pay your bills!

    Sandra, I am another Gail - - -
