Rapid City Republican Hosts Corinna Robinson House Party Friday

Rapid City businessman John Tsitrian offers West River readers what could be Friday's most interesting house—or may I capitalize?—House party. The Republican blogger invites interested citizens to his humble Rapid City abode this Friday, March 14, 7 to 9 p.m. Tsitrian promises Greek and Armenian snacks and desserts, sparkling conversation, and Corinna Robinson.

Corinna Robinson. You know, that nice Rapid City Democrat who wants to take Republican Congresswoman Kristi Noem's job.

Why would a Republican host a House party for a Democrat? Tsitrian has made clear he thinks Kristi Noem is destroying his party with her failure to represent South Dakota interests in the government shutdown and the Farm Bill:

Though a Republican by registration and nature, I abhor the obstructionistic elements in my party, the ones that Noem has so clearly been representing, the ones that I believe could bring the GOP to ruin if allowed to take it over. I'm ready for a suitable replacement [John Tsitrian, "Corinna, Corinna, Where You Been So Long? I Ain't Had No Representin' Since You Been Gone," The Constant Commoner, 2014.02.04].

This House party has a cover charge: a check made out to Robinson's campaign (that's "Corinna for South Dakota"). Tsitrian says any amount is welcome.

Tsitrian would also appreciate an RSVP so he can whip up enough tzatziki for everyone (is that what I smell in Dawna's kitchen, John?). RSVP by e-mail: tsitrian (at)

Then come out Friday evening to 6144 Wildwood Drive, Rapid City, to meet John, Corinna, and quite likely a number of other interesting, intelligent, politically minded South Dakotans. Enjoy the evening... and since John will be too busy hosting to blog, send me your party pix!

Wow. Would like to see pictures, or attendee list, from this event.

    Go, SD!

  2. grudznick 2014.03.11

What does the insaner group in Rapid feel about this? Some will think it smacks of Rhinoism. I, for one, would like to taste the shrimps.

  3. Disgusted Dakotan 2014.03.12

No different than Grudz supporting 21 year Democrat Rhoden, actually more honest as neither Robinson nor John stole an (R) to get elected!

  4. John Tsitrian 2014.03.12

Y'all come. You can also call me at 605-341-6411. The snack table will include keftedis (ground South Dakota-raised lamb & beef meatballs seasoned with oregano and onion, fried in olive oil), spanakopita (spinach pie with feta and a filo dough crust), roasted peppers with feta, hummus, baba ganouj (eggplant dip), calamata olives, fresh veggie tray, tabbbouleh (cracked wheat salad), pita, baklava, Greek koulourakias (twist cookies), Armenian shooshmayov (sesame cookies). Might even set aside a few minutes to give Greek circle-dancing lessons.

Taunia, someone will take pics. Grudznick, RINO SHMINO, I want somebody in D.C. that can do better than shut down my government just cuz she can't legislate her way out of a brown paper bag. Here's a piece about how much the shutdown of our national parks cost the economy--I can tell you that a chunk of that hit the Black Hills tourist industry in the pocketbook, coming as it did during our prime Autumn tourist season:,0,1509768.story#axzz2vgUv9eM4

  6. Jim 2014.03.12

Mr. Grudz, you should disc jockey the party.

  7. Lanny V Stricherz 2014.03.12

Doggone it John, When are you going to host this event East River? Sounds yummy. Maybe you could talk to Sanaa Abourezk and host an event here at her Restaurant, as she already has all the Middle Eastern fare for your cooking.

  8. John Tsitrian 2014.03.12

I've eaten at Sanaa's place, Lanny--outstanding. It would make for a great venue. Maybe this will put a a couple of bugs in the Senator and Sannaa's ears.

I like chili, but Tsitrian's menu blows chili feeds away. Get me a plane ticket!

Adding Sanaa's to Corinna's East River itinerary is a great idea. Dems' secret weapon: awesome ethnic food!

  10. larry kurtz 2014.03.12

Grud: your cousin Hugh lives by Tsitrian, no?

  11. Lynn G. 2014.03.12

John that is great! Thank you for hosting this! Great company and a very informative and stimulating evening. Greek and Armenian treats. Yum! lol

  12. John Tsitrian 2014.03.12

Can I put you down, Lynn? If so, how many?

  13. mike from iowa 2014.03.12

So is this Sanaa a relative of former Senator James A?

  14. John Tsitrian 2014.03.12

    His wife.
