Belfrage: Rounds EB-5 Program Complete Fiasco

Last updated on 2014.04.23

KELO-AM's Greg Belfrage gets to the point on the EB-5 scandal much more succinctly:

The lack of oversight and accountability that plagued the state's EB-5 program is staggering. Tens of thousands of dollars in payments made without receipts. The concerns of EB-5 partners unheard. Those involved with administering the EB-5 program drifting from state to private employment without any oversight concerns from state officials. State EB-5 records lost or destroyed. Promised visas never delivered. Company partners bankrupt. Lives ruined.

It's not hard to see why money is missing and one former state employee is dead. This is a fiasco from start to finish [Greg Belfrage, "Shedding Light on the Chaos of EB-5," KELO-AM: The Daily Dose, 2014.04.21].

That's the EB-5 fiasco that Mike Rounds spins and clutches close to his breast on the Senate campaign dance floor. That's a voting issue for anyone interested in honest government.

Wow! Impressive that Belfrage is willing to take on the Rounds machine! Just don't go hunting near Lake Andes Greg!

Powers is pushing the Rounds push poll results from 8-10 where Rounds was pushing attacks on Nelson. Now what is a serious effort at voter suppression. Amazing how they attack the polls that publish the questions, but push this one who doesn't say who paid for it or what the questions were.

To me it looks like they cherry-picked who they called. For Rounds to have that high of a favorability after all this EB5 mess.. and Stace's name recognition is pretty high, I'd think it would be a bit lower than that, not to mention half of the people they called knew who Bosworth and Rhoden were? Hogwash. They must have called the active Establishment. No way in heck 47% of South Dakotan Republicans know who Rhoden is. That's the giveaway there.

I hope a lot of Republican voters were listening.

Is there anybody on the right that hasn't figured out that bad stuff(for taxpayers) happens when there is no oversight and regulations are discarded as being too cumbersome or too costly for businesses? Just like there are wingnuts calling for more taxcuts for the wealthy, there are any number of them that want to de-regulate all businesses and let the profits fall to the 1%.
