Indy Blogger Endorses Lowe for Governor, Wonders Where’s Wismer?

The Displaced Plainsman keeps his Independent registration and endorses Joe Lowe for Governor, based largely on the fact that Lowe appears to be trying while Susan Wismer appears to be coasting:

As an independent I can vote in the Democratic primary and cast a vote for Lowe. I don't know that much about him, but at least he has something of a campaign presence. If want a two party system in the state, having an opposition party candidate who will campaign is better than having an opposition candidate who won't.

If Wismer believes this race is about the Democratic establishment, such as it exists in South Dakota, showing that they will bring out the vote for one of their own, then Governor Daugaard may top 75% in the general election if she is the nominee. That result will not help develop a functioning two-party system within the state [Leo Kallis, "Is Susan Wismer Actually Seeking the Democratic Nomination for Governor?" The Displaced Plainsman, 2014.05.14].

Web presence isn't everything, but this independent endorsement reaffirms that in politics, half of winning is showing up. And for Joe Lowe, at least, the other half will be getting Independents like my friend the Displaced Plainsman to show up and vote.

Please join me and send both Rep. Wismer and Mr. Lowe some money.

I'm sure money is an object. I'm hearing Susan's daughter is sending out 'gimme' letters to help her mother raise money.
