Bosworth Solicits and Accepts Illegal Campaign Contribution from Foreigner

If any members of the press are bothering to attend Annette Bosworth's press conference this morning, their first question should be, "Why is your campaign soliciting and accepting illegal contributions from foreign nationals?"

Sunday we documented the case of Conrad Longmore, a British citizen who received campaign spam from Annette Bosworth asking for financial support. Soliciting foreigners, as we know is a violation of federal campaign finance law.

But maybe there's no violation here. Maybe Bosworth just didn't pay attention to the probably hacked e-mail list her friend and SEO guru Joey Burzynski used and had no intention of asking foreigners for illegal contributions.

Longmore tested this possibility. Longmore put $10 in Bosworth's pitifully unsuccessful (two weeks, 16 donors, 0.2% of goal) online kitty. He included the comment, "Ten Bucks Well Spent!" Shortly thereafter, Bosworth quoted Longmore on her Facebook page:

screen cap, Bosworth for Senate Facebook page, 2014.05.12, from Conrad Longmore

As Longmore explains, quoting him indicates someone on Team Bosworth must have paid attention to his contribution. Team Bosworth reads every word this blog writes about their illegitimate candidate, so Team Bosworth must know that Longmore is a foreign national. Yet as of this morning, Longmore's contribution is still listed on Bosworth's fundraising page.

Team Bosworth is now therefore guilty of soliciting and accepting a campaign contribution from a foreign national, in violation of 11 CFR 110.20(g).

It's obviously illegal to accept this contribution, is there a grace period to return, or donate to a charity, any inadvertently accepted donations. Are their protections for a candidate who might be being set up by political opponents?

But I suspect it's all good, Annette for Senate can donate any not allowed contributions to one of her non-profits and be safe from prosecution.

I would suggest that it is doubtful that any press would attend her conference, but they do usually report on train wrecks.

They did not even know about it. One showed. Went off on her narcissistic, delusional rant "I'm Obama's worst nightmare!" But in another note she announced the creation of another $$ grabbing scam the Chanette machine has started helphealhunger.org

How many more Conrad Longmore's are there that made illegal contributions to Bosworth?
