Mavalwalla Working for Schultz, Prepping Big Catch-up on SOS Campaign

Mr. Powers perpetuates his obsession with picking on Angelia Schultz by rolling in the dead-fish rumors people feed him about the supposed withdrawal of Democrat Schultz from the race for Secretary of State. Team Schultz says hold the phone, she's on her way:

The American News contacted Schultz about the status of her campaign. In a phone interview Wednesday afternoon, Schultz' campaign strategist Bajun Mavalwalla said Schultz has been assembling a team and they're finalizing their strategy to find the best and most efficient way to get her message out across the state.

"As far as my candidate, she's not missing, and she's not pulling out," Mavalwalla said. "Right now, what Angelia recognizes is what we have in South Dakota is a core group of voters who need to know what she's all about. That's why we are making sure when we put everything out that the message is synchronized and right on time" [Elisa Sand, "Secretary of State Candidate Assembling Campaign Team," Aberdeen American News, 2014.08.27].

I'll admit, now is not the time to be assembling a campaign team. Now is the time to be dispatching the campaign team that you assembled back in June to go flood the State Fair with brightly T-shirted hand-shakers and jawboners to tell everyone that you rock, Krebs is Gant in heels, Stacey is crazy, and Emmett... well, he's just Emmett. You should also be answering the heck out of your phone and angling for every bit of free press coverage you can get.

But Schultz has Mavalwalla on the job, and his Nebula Group appears to be mobilizing in support of multiple Democratic candidates in South Dakota. Better late than never—now let's see some big push!

Related: In addition to his freshly announced work for District 12 House candidate Ellee Spawn, Mavalwalla's team has also signed on to blog favorite Robin Page's District 33 Senate campaign. No word yet on whether Page's new campaign consultants have moved her poll numbers, but they have finally launched a campaign website for Robin! Whoo-hoo!

Sooo she will be ready to run by... December??? She might as well bow out now and endorse Emmett since he has the drive to actually run for the office.

There is one certainty with the SoS race, Angelia will stay in the race, she has a tough hill to climb.

Emmitt should drop out of the race and endorse Angelia, after all, Libertarians won't even break 5-6% of the vote.

Just saw that Gaddy's challenge to Gant on getting on the ballot lost. Good ruling.

Why didn't these wannabe Libertarians act responsibly and change their party affiliation in time for the convention. All these court actions would have not have happened if candidates didn't display such ignorance of election laws.

LD, At the very least she is willing to campaign, and will serve if elected, can the same be said about you?

    JeniW,
I saw a Pew Research Poll today that said most Libertarians did not know what the Libertarian Party is all about.

Jen, she lost a primary for the state senate because she never got out and campaigned. She isn't motivated or prepared to run in the least bit. This was the one seat in state government that dems should have been able to pick up and nobody has a clue who Schultz even is. I bet you she doesn't even have 30% name recognition among dems and the election is 2 months away.

The thing is we do not know what she has in mind. So, we cannot judge yay or nay at this point.

A few of the Libertarians waited until the very last moment to change their voter registration status. Why did they wait so long? What does that tell us about how they would serve if elected?

I do not know if Angelia has any more of a chance of being elected than any of the Libertarians candidates do, but for sure, all are at least willing to campaign which means being a target for those who like to throw mud at them.

CH, I am not sure that I am willing to forgive you for the visual image of "Gant in heels."

So is Bajun back working for Corinna? Angelia gave an excellent, right on the mark speech at the Democratic convention in June. I think she will be a challenge for Krebs or whoever else is running. We hope to have her speak in Brookings before the election.

So you think having a hyper partisan S.O.S. in a one party ruled state is a good thing?

Check out how party trumps people in Kansas and the saga of the Democratic Senate Candidate dropping out of the race and how the S.O.S office the filed papers and then declaring it not valid so that D.C. resident and Kansas Senator Pat Roberts.

    Go get em Angelia!

Should read...'how the S.O.S office provided counsel and approved the filed papers and then declaring it not valid so that D.C. resident and Kansas Senator Pat Roberts.'
