RickStock Releases Groovy Poster—Big Musical Fun in Piedmont August 16

Last weekend I told you about RickStock, the big August 16 musical fundraiser for U.S. Senate candidate Rick Weiland. Now RickStock has its own Facebook page and a splendiferous poster urging us to pile into Piedmont:

RickStock concert poster 2014

Holy cow! Music! Vivid colors! Guitars and peace signs! More Democratic campaigns should be this bold.

RickStock! Rick's going; I'm going; so should you!

I love it! Groovy man. Now if only Wavy Gravy would be there. Can we get anyone to lead the "F-I-S-H" cheer?

Some RC friends will attend with me. Too bad there won't be food and drinks sold there. I suppose that would require a boatload of permits and stuff. We'll bring our own.

  2. Deb Geelsdottir 2014.08.05

I'm anticipating High Times and [no] Misdemeanors.

(I thought the above was clever. Flatter me by agreeing, please?)

  3. Bill Dithmer 2014.08.05

I can't find a like button Deb or I would like.

    The Blindman

  4. Steve Sibson 2014.08.05

Deb, I am not surprised you would like New Age hippy.

  5. larry kurtz 2014.08.05

    today's oxymoron: christian rock.

  6. mike from iowa 2014.08.05

Give her a smiley face- :) -works as a like button.

  7. mike from iowa 2014.08.05

Sibby, don't you have some fire hydrants to pee on?

  8. Kevin Weiland 2014.08.05

Deb, I tried to get a food and beverage vendor months ago, just found out yesterday that the one I was interested in is going to the Central States Fair. So bring a cooler with your favorite beverage and join us. The good new's, we do have two Porta-potties for your evacuating pleasure.

  9. bearcreekbat 2014.08.05

    Kevin, What! No buffalo burgers?

  10. Joan Brown 2014.08.05

Sibby, so you see fit to make comments about New Age hippy, what do you think of the alleged Christian music that is played at Life Light. Any clips of it that i have ever hear, it is just plain pure noise, that sounds more like hard rock or even heavy metal.

  11. Bill Fleming 2014.08.05

Sibby used to be a rock musician. Three guesses what kind of music he played. I'll let him tell you.

  12. Roger Cornelius 2014.08.05

    LIKE button for Deb.

Power to the New Age Hippies.

  13. Bill Fleming 2014.08.05

I am right now sitting in a park in Missoula about to go into the stadium to see Paul McCartney. About 20,000 peeps here. Should I make a Next Stop Rickstock sign?

Ms. Brown, the softest and sweetest sounds can sing my Devil's words, while Mr. Sibby would tell you that gittin' after it the whammy bar on a vintage axe with your pony tail bobbin' can praise his Lord.

  16. Bill Fleming 2014.08.05

Sibby needs to give his whammy bar a rest. He keep floggin' that thang he go blind.

  18. Roger Cornelius 2014.08.05

    Bill,
A couple of weeks ago my niece made the Rapid City to Fargo journey to see Sir Paul, she says no concert ever will ever compare to it.

Why does the Christian Sibson hate New Age Hippies?

  19. Bill Fleming 2014.08.05

Just heard him sing 'Whole lotta shakin' goin on' at soundcheck. Epic.

But then came the white dogs,
With their thick and empty heads
They couldnt see past the billfold
They wanted all the buffalo dead

    Everything was so sad

When I looked above the canyon wall
Some strong eyes did I see
I think it's somebody comin' around
    To save my ass, baby
    I think- I think he's comin' around
    To save you and me.

--Ted Nugent. Wed, August 7, 2014

  22. mike from iowa 2014.08.05

In a 1998 episode of VH1’s Behind The Music, Ted Nugent admitted to being a serial pedophile. VH1 politely phrased this as, “his weakness for young women.”

  23. grudznick 2014.08.05

Larry, you know I can't click any of your blue lines for fear you are linking to gay porn again. Maybe it's just one of those hipster bands that drove Sibby insaner than his own stepsister, but I can't risk it.

    Use your words.

  24. larry kurtz 2014.08.05

    go diddle yer hand, grud.

  25. larry kurtz 2014.08.05

hey grud: see DD appointed Stan Anderson to the tourism board after a donation of $4000?

  26. larry kurtz 2014.08.05

Stan still dyeing his hair, grud?

  27. grudznick 2014.08.05

They wanted all the buffalo dead, lar.

  28. Roger Cornelius 2014.08.05

    grudz,

Will you be joining the Indians at Bear Butte tomorrow to protest Ted Nugent at the Full Throttle Saloon?

  29. Deb Geelsdottir 2014.08.05

"we do have two Porta-potties for your evacuating pleasure."

Awwww Kevin. How sweet and thoughtful! I'm grateful from the Heart of my Bottom!

  30. Deb Geelsdottir 2014.08.05

"we do have two Porta-potties for your evacuating pleasure."

As I age, evacuating becomes more and more of a pleasure.

  31. JeniW 2014.08.05

It is called "Input - Output." Can't have one without the other. LOL :)

  32. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.08.05

Deb, good point—bring beverages and snacks to share!

Steve, go pick up Joan, bring her with! You can stop at the Central States Fair and berate the Republicans at the GOP table, then come relax at Weilands' with some good music. We can sit together and chat like old times.

  33. grudznick 2014.08.05

Mr. C, if I can get up there I would protest Ted Nugent directly at this Throttle place not at mato paha. Unless Mr. Ted baits some bears or deers up by that burned off hill and then tries to shoot them for his T.V. show. Then I would be glad to protest at that interesting hill out there by itself. And I would protest loudly to Mr. Ted and he would give me his full attention.

  34. grudznick 2014.08.05

We are protesting against Mr. Ted for his slob hunter tactics, right? Not for that song "Great White Buffalo."

  35. Jim 2014.08.06

Bill, seems to me the Sibs was a big alice cooper fan back in his godless heathen days. Sibs can confirm this.

  36. Steve Sibson 2014.08.06

The modern New Age Movement emerged as a distinct lifestyle from the late 1960s through the early 1970s, although elements can be traced back to the 19th and early 20th centuries. It gained momentum in the 1980s and strengthened with the Harmonic Convergence event in 1987. Diverse individuals from around the world practice New Age spirituality.

In many ways the hippie counter culture movement of the 60s and 70s, through it's use of psychedelic drugs, became heavily involved with new age spiritual thought.

  37. Jim in DC 2014.08.06

WOW! This is great. Hope that other state dems attend. Would be a great opportunity to show the unity that Cory has spoken of in the past. The unity that needs to happen to get these folks into office. Whaddaya say, Susan Wismer, Corrina Robinson, Robin Page and everyone else? Get them dancing shoes on!!

  38. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.08.06

Jim in DC: dancing? Uh oh, we all know what that leads to....

Danno: Would the RCJ let Bearcreekbat columnize under the pseudonym?

  39. mike from iowa 2014.08.06

Dancing leads to an orgy of Democratic voter registering and committing to vote.

  40. Danno 2014.08.06

    CH,

Not a clue. I'd be in favor of it though, either him, the blindman, (or why don't you apply)?

  41. Danno 2014.08.06

*Nudges Roger to sharpen his pen as well*

  42. Curt 2014.08.06

    Agree 100% w/ Danno ...
RCJ readers need to be exposed to real thinking and writing and nobody better than Cory H to take that on.

  43. caheidelberger Post author | 2014.08.06

Mike, that's my kind of orgy... but maybe we'd better consult with Kevin and Rick on branding. ;-)

Curt, thanks! I applied once for that columnist job; they picked a conservative instead. Maybe I should try again....

  44. Danno 2014.08.06

I thought of Bear first as I think he lives in Rapid, (Roger does too I believe), but as I've stated, several in here could put together a good column in my opinion, CH being one as well.

  45. Roger Cornelius 2014.08.06

    Danno,
Thanks for the nice thought and I do in live in Rapid City, it highly unlikely that they would hire me given the fact they won't even post most of my comments on editorials and news stories.
Cory or bear would be ideal, but the Journal isn't to fond of smart liberals.

  46. Danno 2014.08.06

My posting percentage went way up after Joe O'Sullivan left for some reason.. hmmm.... (used to get over 70% censored at times)..

  47. Bill Dithmer 2014.08.06

"I would rather DC politicians do less. Gridlock works as a great tool to restrain DC politicians."

Thats what Sodakliberty had to say about about Mike Rounds candidacy to replace Tim Johnson.

Can you imagine that, sending someone to DC for the purpose of not legislating?

Let me make myself perfectly clear here. If you cant come to work with creative solutions, just stay the fuck home.

If you want the office but dont have the smarts to come up with workable solutions to the problems at hand, stay the fuck home and fight with your wife.

Rounds says if the DOE isn’t removed then it would be hard to have an education system that works for us. Where has this stupid insurance man been? Oh ya he's the man that raped education by useing the money the feds sent to SD for other things.

Rounds mentioned the “rationing board”; which was coined as a “death panel” early on by Sarah Palin. " If the board finds too many old people having certain procedures the board could simply move the reimbursement rate down to something like 60%. That would in effect make it hard for older patients with a limited income to afford procedures the rationing board doesn’t think they really need. "

That sure sounds like the very insurance companies that Bullshit Mike has himself pushed all these years. " Plus no conservative voter wants any bureaucratic board in charge of anything at a national level."

Yet you were happy with the insurance companies making that very same decision. What a hypocrite!

Rounds mentioned Weiland’s proposal and said it would be unworkable because Medicare itself relies upon the system being subsidized by those not on the system. If everyone was on the system then who would subsidize it?

WTF Mike do tell us in some detail how in the hell your going to fix something when your livelihood depends on the failure of ACA.

    Stupid is as stupid does.

Again from Sodakliberty. " Overall I would say Rounds is doing much better than many of us bloggers give him credit for when talking about issues. I think the key is for bloggers and reporters to actually go to more of his events and ask him questions."

How about haveing Mike actually answer questions dealing with corruption duribg his term as governor? Stop trying to make this man something special. He is an insurance man.! Always will be an insurance man.

I really dont know where I'm going with this rant, but Mike and Sodakliberty pissed me off this morning with all the talking point answers without giving real solutions to any real problems. Lowlife, scum sucking, tail dragging dogs, that dont have any intention of legislating, only stalling until their party can get control again.

    Let's take one more look.

    No solutions of any kind
Admitting that your only going to DC to stop programs already implemented
And an attitude that seems to say " I got mine the rest of you are on your own, after I get all the money from you I can.

Mike doesn't need an education in corruption, he could give lessons. Do we need another one like that in DC working against the people that live in the state?

Come on Rick, grow some balls, call Mike out, talk tough, raise some hell. Do anything, or at least something to get noticed. Even if you pissed some people off it's better then the campain your running now.

Down and dirty, thats the way the game is played today. If you continue like you are, and you have shown me no reason that you wont, you are going to get the snot beat out of you by a man that will do the same if he has to. And lets face it he is on cruse control right now without a care in the world.

You dont have a chance in hell of winning this race unless you sling some mud Rick. Man up and show some emotion. Get mad. Give SD a choice to think about.

Why do the people in this state continue to vote Republican, when they all want to live Democrat?

    The Blindman

  48. lesliengland 2014.08.06

if we could make such an inroad, imagine the progress that might be possible in westriver.

  49. Douglas Wiken 2014.08.06

Right on, Bill. Thanks for the summary.

  50. Danno 2014.08.06

See? The Blindman would make a perfect Journal editorialist.

  51. lesliengland 2014.08.06

    yup......................................................................................

  52. mike from iowa 2014.08.06

The Blindman speaketh truth. Totally unacceptable in a red state. Don't want to piss off the squirrels in charge.

  53. Roger Cornelius 2014.08.06

Keep getting pissed off Blindman, maybe it will become contagious.

  54. Bill Dithmer 2014.08.06

I'm settled down some now thanks to four onces of single malt. NO I could never write for a paper. I dont just lack journalistic integrity, I dont have any. I say what I think, no matter what, and have no problem telling the truth when a lie would do.

I have stepped on a few toes in the last twenty years because of my views on women's reproductive rights, the way that most of the state treats gays, and the continued hammering of those people that are doing the actual work.

It doesnt make sense that some of these people work two and sometimes three jobs and "STILL" live in poverty.

It doesnt make sense that 8% of our state lives where there is 80% unemployment while those in charge of economic development continue to push for jobs in only two places, the I29 corodor, and along I90.

It doesn't make sense that the state treats people on our reservations like rented mules while at the same time giving banks and insurance companies what is in effect, "their own offshore account in the middle of the country."

Belinda and I dont live in South Dakota anymore, and believe it or not, the reasons I listed were not the reasons for leaving.

We would not have been able to even attempt the project that we are doing here back in SD. See we had a green energy dream. Moving saved us over 30% on our little green resort. That aint chicken feed. Oh sure the legislature talks about allternative energy. Talk isn't cheap, the longer people wait to start learning about green the more improbable the chances are they will. It's not their fault, it's just our nature.

Before some of you go there, all my money is still in South Dakota, I have three grandbabies there, and a little pieceof land. I love the people that live there, and the work ethics of those that have jobs. It was the state itself that forced us to leave. Like they say, "money talks and bullshit walks." Evidently I didnt have the money required to buy the boots that would have allowed me to walk through the bullshit. Life goes on.

Now I'm going to get people mad again. The state of South Dakota is like a dirty tampon, isn't it time that the voters just pulled the string and got rid of the mess?

    The Blindman

  55. Danno 2014.08.06

    Well,

Be that as it may Blindman, I enjoy reading your contributions, here now and in the past on the Journal.

  56. Deb Geelsdottir 2014.08.06

"The state of South Dakota is like a dirty tampon, isn't it time that the voters just pulled the string and got rid of the mess?"

I'm left speechless Blindman, mostly because I'm awestruck at your ability to create a stunning and visceral image.

It's kinda funny too. Gross mostly.

  57. Deb Geelsdottir 2014.08.06

Here is an idea for Madizens at Rickstock:

Bill, with his graphic skills, creates a sticker available when we enter the party. It says something like "Another Madizen for Rick". Or something much more clever and witty. We slap it on and it serves several purposes - A little advertising for the Times, a little campaign encouragement for Rick, and Madizens get to meet one another. Who knows? Maybe the Madville Times will become a political force!

    Whaddayathink?
