Operation Howie Watch: Open House at New Conservative Base East of Rapid City Jan. 17

Last updated on 2015.01.12

Right-wing politician and blogger Gordon Howie is up to something. He's opening a new base of operations in the hinterlands east of Rapid City, overlooking the Rapid Creek floodplain. Howie has built a new studio so he and Ed Randazzo and Sam Kephart and Tonchi Weaver and can start making crazy videos again. He's built a meeting facility for conservative groups—a convenient sixteen-mile drive from the heart of Rapid City and all that liberal urban corruption, and close to the airport so he can monitor the comings and goings of Cristo ni Iglesia members headed for Scenic.

And next Saturday, Howie's holding an open house at his new International Headquarters:

While the “International Headquarters” title is somewhat tongue in cheek, the impact of activities from this unique facility will no doubt have far-reaching impact.

You are invited to the open house…

  • Where: 15372 Antelope Creek Road, Rapid City SD. 57703
3.8 miles east of the RC Regional Airport turnoff on Hwy 44 to Antelope Creek Rd, turn south… 2.3 miles to the driveway (on the right)
  • When: Saturday, Jan 17th 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

There won’t be any formal ceremony. It’s just a day for you to drop in for a cup of coffee and see our new facility.

You might even learn something about Gordon’s new “secret mission” [Gordon Howie, "World Wide Grand Opening," The Right Side, 2015.01.10].

Bob Ellis of the American Clarion says he'll be there; this open house will be a chance for progressive operatives to infiltrate the compound and surveil the machinations of two arch-conservative Black Hills bloggers! Liberals, bring cameras and back-up, and go visit Gordon next Saturday!

I hope that he keeps his taxes up on this tax write off or the citizens will repo it. The one thing I appreciated about Gordo though was the fact that he kicked ole Rounds squarely in the nads a time or two during the debate. Funny stuff to see the little feller squirm when Gordo dug in at the the plate.

i noticed this tax exempt location is EXACTLY half way between tax exempt scenic and tax exempt st. martin's cathedral. conspiracy??

Howie might be wrong on all of the issues, but I give him a lot of credit for getting his message out there, as wrong as it might be. SD Dems could take some lessons from the old Right Wing Fanatic. Because to put it gently, we are old minded and boring, lack vision, passion and originality. I am baffled how we were the state to elect the most progressive Presidential candidate ever, RIP George McGovern. Where did that state go, because I sure would like to live in it.

Tonchi Weaver and Bob Ellis " making crazy videos again."? Noooo, don't even think about that.

Leslie, with this crowd, I will entertain any and all suggestions of conspiracy, if for nothing else than sheer irony's sake.

Nicholas, one the one hand I want to agree with you, that there are definitely lessons we Democrats could learn from Howie about getting our message out there. But while I enjoy Gordon's company and courage, I must also note that Gordon's messaging ability has yet to build a viable, difference-making electoral coalition.

I looked for this new center of SD wingnuttery on Google maps. I entered the address and switched to satellite view. Nothing. I saw a bare spot near the curve from west to north on Antelope Road. Not even the faintest wheel track. Is that the wrong place? Did anyone else try to find it?

Ohhhh! I get it! It's a camouflaged underground bunker! Ah ha!

I saw the same thing, Deb! Gordon has been putting pictures of the new construction on Facebook. I'm of the impression this is totally new construction.

Just for fun, I took some satellite map screen shots of the general area and some close-ups of a couple of curious looking structures close to the address Gordo gives in his invite. You can find them on my FB page, Cory, and are welcome to publish them if you want to. I really would like to know what the heck those things are. (A Dan Brown style fiction writer could have a heyday with them.) Maybe Gordo can tell us. Or maybe we'll just have to drive out there and look (if it ever warms up. ;-)

The grouping to the east of the road closest to the address pin looks like it includes some kind of tall towers (casting long shadows). I'm wondering if those are maybe some kind of broadcast thingies. The other object has fielded a couple of interesting comments on what it might be... aviation beacon, old missile silo... anyway, lots of weird stuff out there. My buddy Gordon should fit right in. LOL

I would like to see Mr. Howie's underground bunker. He has some money of mine and I am sure that is where he hides it.
