Bankruptcy Trustee Offers Dairy Dozen-Veblen Investors 1/10,000 Return

The courts are wrapping up another messy parcel of the dairy empire that serial polluter Rick Millner of Veblen mismanaged into bankruptcy. The United States Bankruptcy Court of the District of South Dakota has received the final trustee's report concerning The Dairy Dozen-Veblen LLP. Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 trustee John S. Lovald proposes dividing up the remaining $2,908.31 of the estate as follows:

If I understand this document correctly, those 32 limited partners would include the Korean investors who bought their way into the country by sinking hundreds of thousands of dollars into Rick Millner's now-failed dairies. In for ten million, they now get back a thousand.

Hand Millner $100, get back one penny... that's about the return any community can expect investing in malodorous, polluting confined animal feeding operations.

Was this dairy one of those encouraged by the State advertising to bring foreign dairies to the state? This does not make our record very good to encourage us to keep Daugaard's incentives for big companies coming in. He is now promoting that we have low taxes right when everyone else is trying to have low taxes. That line might have worked better before but has long wore out any takers on that topic. This state has low paid customers, sparce population to sell to, and negative on almost everything. We talk a lot about being business friendly but actually attract very few businesses. Yawn.

[CAH: Yes, Roger. South Dakota has facilitated many of these deals between dairies and foreign investors buying their green cards.]

Whaaaat?! You mean these large dairies are NOT all sunshine & lollipops for a community? According to the top purported agriculture experts within our state, they are unaware of any problems at the Veblen dairies, and they claim these massive dairies are overwhelming successes with no known adverse impacts on the communties.

Please double check your facts, if this information is correct, please contact our SD Dept of Ag so they can be made aware of this information.

Rep. Nelson is role model for children.

[CAH: On this issue, he may be, questioning the authorities, challenging their willingness to facilitate big industry that does more harm than good to their communities.]
