Over 100 South Dakotans from all over East River came to the Hanson High School gym in Alexandria this afternoon to hear Rep. Stace Nelson (R-19/Fulton) officially announce his candidacy for the United States Senate. I asked seven of those folks what they were doing at a political event on a perfectly sunny summer day. Here are their responses:
Note the geographical spread: supporters from Brookings, Flandreau, Sioux Falls, Mitchell, and Wagner as well as local dude George Stainbrook. I didn't seek out out-of-towners; those were just the folks I chanced upon in the Hanson County Gym.
