Woster A-Blog!

Kevin Woster is going to town on the blog world. Freed of the corporate bushwah of Lee Enterprises, he's taking his quill to the keyboard and publishing under the banner of Tell Kevin.

That title means something. He's not coming exclusively to tell us what to think; he wants us to tell him what we know, so he can share our stories. "The key to success in the news business?" asks his new blog tagline. "Listening. That's the key."

Woster opens with a poem ("Leaving the Trail"—let the literary analysis begin!), followed by articles on a Rapid City police officer's display of respect for fallen comrades and a eulogy for his former Sioux Falls boss, editor Dick Thien (also remembered respectfully by current Sioux Falls newsman Jon Walker).

Woster enriches the South Dakota blogosphere with his words. Now can his blog words enrich him?

p.s.: But Kevin, Tumblr? Tumblr?! Gaaccckk! Go talk to Fleming, have him show you how to use WordPress or Blogger.

I am wondering why Woster picked Tumblr as a blog platform. It is not really rated for serious blogging and both it and Blogger are free. Computer sites rating blogs give Tumblr 3 out of 5 stars ..lower than Blogger or WordPress.

  2. Agreed. So much for listening, Kevin! I told you already to do WordPress. :P

Tumblr allows comments to be submitted with many links and moderated blogs are for post-middle-aged paranoid white people. WordPress is as underpowered as Blogger is.

Guess you'll have to explain that to an aged paranoid white guy. Woster apparently can be asked a question of some minimal number of characters at TellKevin, but there is nothing actually set up for post-related comments.

Incidentally, hardly anybody likes blind links with no information other than link.

Don't make me go there, Doug.

Thank you for informing us Cory, look forward to finding Kevin in blogosphere again. Will we call his annual hunt Woster Unleashed now?
