While I wait for the really juicy bills to pop into the hopper in Pierre, I note with mild interest that our own freshwoman State Representative Patricia Stricherz (R-8/Winfred) has been assigned to two committees: Education and Health and Human Services. She drew the same committee assignments as fellow frosh District 15 Rep. Jenna Haggar ("I"-Sioux Falls). Health and Human Services will also enjoy the presence of freshmen Rep. Rev. Steve Hickey (R-9/Sioux Falls) and Rep. Scott Munsterman (R-7/Brookings). My goodness: that committee promises to be a daily blogapalooza! Must watch Statehouse!
Stricherz's counterpart from District 8, Rep. Mitch Fargen (D-Flandreau), gets three committees: Commerce, State Affairs, and Legislative Procedure (I would call in favors to get that third one!). In the other chamber, newly minted Senate Majority Leader Russell Olson (R-8/Wentworth) gets State Affairs and Legislative Procedure.
