Hey, I met the band! Well, one member of one band playing the big Motongator Joe Country Music Festival at Prairie Village this weekend. The Divine Miss K and I dropped by Dakota Drug for the rummage sale being held there (we didn't go to buy anything; we just wanted to scope out the inside of the building, which is still for sale).

And in walks smooth, silver-haired D.L. Campbell, guitarist for Buck Neck--ed. That's three syllables... those clever wordsmiths. If you meet the band, be sure to ask which one's Buck, and which one's... Neck--ed.

Mr. Campbell says he and the groupies came here from the Madison, Wisconsin area. This is his first visit to our Madison, South Dakota... which I will remind you, dear readers, was named Madison by pioneers who came from Wisconsin's capital, saw the lakes, and said, "Aawww, this reminds us of home. Let's call it Madison... sigh!"

Buck Neck--ed (yes, two hyphens... though I'd have signified the syllable with a Shakespearean e-grave: Buck Neckèd) plays at various times, including Saturday afternoon at 4:30.

Welcome to Madison, D.L.! Play hard... and be sure to let the neighbors get some sleep.
