Support Your Local Blogger: Ring the Madville Times Tip Jar!

***Warning: Crass Capitalism Ahead***

Dear friends of fun local journalism!

The Heidelbergers are happily ensconced at Lake Herman again. I will spend this exciting primary week and most of the Election 2012 summer blogging from the beautiful and windy shores of the prettiest prairie pothole in South Dakota.

I'm sure I'll be a bit distracted by bike rides with the Divine Miss K and beautiful sunsets, but I'll keep you informed about voting records, campaign finance, monkeyshines in Pierre, and all the other fun South Dakota issues you come here to read and discuss.

Now, if you find the Madville Times adds value to your day, what can you do to help? Well, first off, you can ring that tip jar. See that tip jar in the right sidebar? Right below the Recent Comments list? Click on it, and you can send me money via Paypal. Lots of nice people have done it (thank you!), and you can too!

If you don't like all that fancy ethereal electronic money, you can always send a check. Ron Paulites are welcome to drive out here and deliver gold pieces in person: 1883 Cottonwood Cove Trail, Lake Herman, SD 57042.

Every dollar you contribute helps pay the online rent (Sioux Valley Wireless and GoDaddy don't let the Madville Times run for free!). It pays for the babysitter and gasoline that help me get to candidate forums and other informative public events.

You can also support the blog by buying ads. Candidates in particular, if you want to get your message out to some of the most influential South Dakotans, you want your message right here in the sidebar on the Madville Times.

Even if you're not made of money, you can support the blog cause by spreading the word. See those little Email and Twitter links beneath each post? Click and share! If you like what you read here, tell others about it. Draw your friends into the conversation.

Remember: supporting the Madville Times isn't just about making my voice heard. It's also about making your voice heard.

Hit that tip jar! Hit ReTweet! Tell your friends how much fun you're having reading the Madville Times!

And thank you for being here. I'm glad to have you. :-)

I thought you did all of the blogging just for the pure joy of doing it. Why ruin it with worrying about money and contributions?

  2. caheidelberger Post author | 2012.05.29

I'm not worrying about contributions... but I'm not standing in their way! :-D

*drops an I.O.U. in the tip jar* A bit short on disposable income at the moment, but do enjoy the blog very much. Will try to toss a tip your way after June bills are all paid and barring an unforeseen BS expense like someone bashing out the headlights on my car again....

Thanks for the reminder. Yeh won't get it if yeh don't ask!

Headlight bashers? A pox on their houses, Vickie!

  6. Vickie 2012.05.29

Thank you Cory. I have a pretty good idea who did it,but really can't prove it. My German Shepherd/Lab. mix picked up on the trail of the probable headlight basher(s) and led me directly to their front door, but I guess that his testimony isn't admissible in court. ;)

Ms. Vickie, people who "bash the headlights out on your car again" will probably do it again and again if they are irked, so please take care and contact the reasonable authorities.

The rest of you, I heartily recommend donating to young Mr. H's tip jar. I, for one, can attest that you will sleep better.

  8. Vickie 2012.05.29

Yes grudz, they are irked. I am just one of at least 5 people that have irked them by calling the police about their "activities." We've all been on the receiving end of their wrath at some point. The police are very familiar with the individuals in question and have increased their patrols of this area. They'll nail 'em at some point. I just hope that it's sooner rather than later.

I thank you for your concern. Much appreciated.

I do hope that anyone that participates in discussions on this site will add to the tip jar. A few bucks here and there can help keep the discussions and information flowing. That internet access and info. gathering doesn't come cheaply. :)

Vickie, you might be able to catch them with some kind of net! I'm almost positive that that's highly illegal, but it may be worth it.

Do you have motion-activated flood lights? They may be a wise idea if you've been experiencing vandalism.

Thanks for all the hard work, Cory!

You Da Man Cory ! I will float you some green in the morning!
    Thanks

You're all welcome, in more than one way. And thank you, dear friends and fellow citizens, for believing this kind of conversation matters.

Don't forget to tip Cory: he works his assets off....

A million hits for Madville by week's end?

  14. caheidelberger Post author | 2012.07.23

I'm working on it, Larry! If I pirated and posted that leggy photo of Rep. Noem that Mr. Montgomery posted Friday, I'd have a million hits in no time.

  15. larry kurtz 2012.07.26

(almost a million hits: we can do it)

  16. larry kurtz 2012.08.15

Cory: google blog rankings show Madville and the War Toilet a tie: same with ip and Sibby. Any better metrics out there?

  17. caheidelberger Post author | 2012.08.15

Did you get 4 for our Google Page Ranks? That's what my widget shows. I also find Alexa giving me a higher rank. I'd give Google credibility just by reputation and size of corporation; I think they have the smartest people crafting their algorithms. I think DWC used to be at 5, meaning either slippage or change in algorithm.

  18. larry kurtz 2012.08.16

"Julie:" thank you for bringing Google juice to Madville Times. Be sure to ring Cory's tip jar!

No one should profit from sexism.

But I suppose it's okay to be sexist as long as it's about the enemy, right?

Why not post a video of Half Senator Timmy speaking in public in an effort to gain more hits?

  20. larry kurtz 2012.08.16

Are you jogging as you post, Julie: or are you a giant slug?

  21. larry kurtz 2012.08.16

Your other personality, PP is a massive slug, for instance.

  22. larry kurtz 2012.09.06

Less than 5000 hits to go, people: this is the best blog in the state so give generously.

  23. caheidelberger Post author | 2012.09.06

Thanks for that vote of confidence, Larry!

  24. larry kurtz 2012.09.11

We did it! Happy Million clicks, Cory!
