Obama Thinks… and Right-Wingers Don’t

Last updated on 2013.01.18

Ed Randazzo draws me down into the muck of his substandard rhetoric with this fallacious-to-flatly-false attribution of barroom memes against President Barack Obama. Randazzo's post exemplifies why Gordon Howie's fake blogroll adds no value to the South Dakota blogosphere. Randazzo doesn't offer any evidence or hyperlinks or put any new information in a South Dakota perspective; he just regurgitates (and please, think of that word in its most literal sense) lines he hears on the radio and at Tea Party rallies that he thinks make him sound all tough and Christian and patriotic. (There's another Tea Party pathology: the conflation of those three terms.)

But let's barf back. Here's Ed's list of what he thinks President Obama thinks, and my response:

a) Same-sex marriage is acceptable. (Reverend Wright didn't really understand the Bible.)

Yup, he does. And politically, from both a human-rights perspective and a limited-government perspective, he's right.

b) Oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

First, Ed cites a bogus stat that doesn't calculate "upstream earnings" from producing and selling crude oil. Second, as usual, he ignores the fundamental difference between corporate profits sought to the exclusion of all other considerations and taxation imposed to pay for the externalities of fossil-fuel use and to protect the general welfare.

c) The government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

President Obama makes no such universal claim. But President Obama is spending federal dollars more frugally than any President since Eisenhower.

d) I am way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

Baloney. President Obama has made no such statement. President Obama has imposed no policies to take guns out of Ed's hands. President Obama has protected and expanded gun rights.

e) It's okay to kill babies by abortion for any reason at any time.

President Obama does not think that. He is, however, more conservative than Ed in that he believes government should not get between women and their doctors.

f) Illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the social security from those who paid into it.

Illegal immigrants subsidize our old folks by paying Social Security taxes that they likely won't cash in on later.

g) The government should make your healthcare decisions for you.

No, the Affordable Care Act stops private insurance companies from making health care decisions for you. President Obama makes it easier for you to make health care choices for yourself and your family, since it makes coverage more affordable and secure.

h) Rich people are immoral and need to be punished for their success.

As a Christian, President Obama must share the belief that we are all sinners. And if Ed wants to get in a piety contest, Jesus singled out rich men in his comment about the difficulty of getting into heaven.

i) We can't tell when he is lying and we shouldn't care anyway when he does.

Now Ed's just running out of things to say... and hoping we don't turn the discussion to the 35 questions Willard Mitt Romney really needs to answer about his possible felony violation of SEC reporting laws on his Bain papers.

j) He should be re-elected.

Ed ends as he starts with something I can't refute. Indeed, President Obama believes we should re-elect him. With his huge list of accomplishments, he's right. Four More Years!

So Cory, do you think the government should not get between the doctor and the babies that are being sacrificed in the Planned Parenthood New Age centers of sex worshipping. Or do you think Obamacare should help fund the child sacrifices?

I think ObamaCare should fund the child sacrifices as much as you believe that the Defense Department should fund the sacrifices of non-christian children elsewhere in the US global takeover, Hun.

Need a ride to Yankton today, Steve?

Larry, the Defense Department is run by the same population control freaks that run Planned Parenthood, and that would be the New Age Earth worshippers.

I can be in Mitchell in a few hours, meet me in the Cabela lot, Steve: I am driving a 2011 BMW X6.

I sense a great disturbance in the Sith Order: it's entirely within the realm of possibility that Willard is going to be forced to argue his case to salvage his candidacy at the Republican Convention where John Thune or Jeb Bush could easily emerge as the earth hater's nominee.

Steve, the Affordable Care Act should not hinder woman's rightful access to abortion and other medical services.

The smoking gun: more evidence of why red states are more violent. GAO

Admit it, Larry. You were looking for Sibson's mental health records.

A trip with him to Yankton: car full of slobber and a lacerated interior. Awfully nice paddy wagon. Will you later be running it right into Gavin's Point Dam or merely setting it on fire?

Slow news day, Cory? You're punching their buttons pretty hard.

    Vote Obama!

Do you people of your beliefs have the right to tell a women what to do with her body? By the way abortions are a small part of Planned Parenthood. They give out free mammograms to women who can't afford them. Which with the way the healthcare system is now that's a catagory this is growing,

Steve knows he's perpetuating Sen. Jon Kyl's lie about the full mission of Planned Parenthood, Owen. Abortion is 3% of services, 15% of revenues. And President Obama recognizes that protecting women's health and rights is more important than living in Steve's fantasy land of moral crusading.

"Do you people of your beliefs have the right to tell a women what to do with her body?"

Do you people believe women have the rith to do what they want to their children's bodies. Check the latest news in South Dakota on fetal homicide, and also the dead 2-year old found in a closet. Abortion is not a medical procedure.

Steve, no need to pack your toothbrush: they give you a new one every week in Yankton.

Eight funeral homes within 22 miles of Mitchell: do you do their financials, Steve? They're all thriving, right?
