...and Stan Adelstein... and country-club Republicans.
Credit my eager readers for getting me thinking about this: Senator Dan Lederman's Rushmore PAC is leading the litigious countercharge to protect the thin-skinned GOP Legislative leadership from free speech. Where does the Rushmore PAC get the money for that? Much of it comes from out of state. According to OpenSecrets.org, Rushmore PAC has received 38 individual donations over $200 during the current election cycle. Three quarters of the $33,600 kicked in by those donors comes from outside South Dakota:

Of the $8,500 from South Dakota donors, $1500 comes from Senator Stanford Adelstein (R-32/Rapid City). $6,000 comes from Lederman and a handful of his Dakota Dunes country club neighbors.
I somehow doubt that the robocall attacks on the SDGOP leadership are coming from any country-club crowd. But if we can just show that, like the Rushmore PAC lawsuit, the robocalls are funded largely by out-of-state donations, maybe we can ignore the whole fracas.
Of course, if the robocallers will simply step out from behind their anonymity and show they are good salt-of-the-earth Republicans fighting a bunch of out-of-state fat cats... well, golly, fellas! You might have yourselves one more campaign issue!
I am sending Lederman $250 today and he can do anything he pleases with it. I trust Dan Lederman.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
So Charlie, why do you want to spend money on a bunch of shadowy out-of-state corporatists? So you can keep you hold on power?
Look at that donor list then read about ALEC and the prison industry:

These fat cats paid good money for the current legislature, and they don't want some renegade outfit to spoil their investments. Isn't it wonderful that Guv DD is using the full force of government to hunt down these rascals and gag their operation? Too bad the coward won't apply the same selective righteous indignation to the secret millionaire contributors who are trying to buy a President and Congress.
These corporatists expect to be worshipped because they give us jobs, jobs that will be at risk to those rascals if found out.
Exactly.
Steve, you ask a pretty good question.
