Howie Author Still Racist, Sexist; Also Dodges Responsibility for Hate Speech

Pat Powers, Troy Jones, Mark Kirkeby, and other Republicans agreed with the Displaced Plainsman and me that Brad Ford's original November 6 blog post against racial blending and women in the workforce was blatantly racist, misogynist, vile, and inexcusable. Powers duly deconstructed Ford's whining non-apology.

Unchastened, or perhaps juiced by the attention, Ford cannonballs into the cesspool again. Here's the link, but wait—don't click! As the very literate LK notes, Ford's incoherence would set off a breathalyzer. I'll spare you the trouble of sorting through the verbal vomit and summarize what Ford is saying:

  1. I'm better than everyone else.
  2. Nazis.
  3. Napoleon.
  4. Social engineering.
  5. Leftists control everything.
  6. Too many people in wheelchairs on TV.
  7. Nazis again.
  8. South Dakota Nazis.
  9. People who criticize me are engaged in a crude sexual act.

Ford nearly bursts a blood vessel trying to poop out every bit of the undigested slop he consumes daily from the John Birch newsletters on the coffee table in Gordon Howie's bunker. But he avoids taking ownership of the clearest words he's published online this year. He even tries to edit them out of existence. Here's how he summarizes the statement that started this ruckus:

My observation that “Gay sex will prosper, racial blending will see a surge, women will be prominent in the consumer-driven workforce” was intended as a statement of fact, not of bias [Brad Ford, "Social Engineering + Demagoguery or a Colorblind South Dakota," The Right Side, November 12, 2012].

Ford makes no logical connection between this sentence and any other sentence in today's essay. But witness his revisionism from the original November 6 passage:

After all, isn’t the political “Iron Triangle”–government, education, media–really “owned” by the Left? Does anyone think for a minute that Western Civilization, Christianity, and traditional values will fare well under liberals of any stripe? Gay sex will prosper, racial blending will surge, a food-stamp mentality will flourish, and harassed women will be prominent in the consumer-driven workforce-but is that really progress? [emphasis in original; Brad Ford, "Right Must Work Harder Regardless of Who Wins," Right Side, November 6, 2012]

But is that really progress? Those five words provoked the fight. Those five words make clear that Ford is making not a statement of fact but a statement of value—homosexuality, racial interaction, and women in the workforce are bad.

And now, met with broad condemnation of his hateful words, Ford tries to hide what he said and calls everyone else Nazis.

There's just no reasoning with some people. Brad, go to your room.

And Gordon, do you really want Ford's racism and misogyny sullying your efforts to pretend to political relevance, not to mention raise money? I mean, seriously, you can't be getting the money for your fancy office and web properties and TV equipment entirely from racists and sexists, can you?

Mr. H, there is nobody madder at Mr. Howie than I but I really don't think we can entirely blame him for Mr. Ford not preparing his writings enough. I will tell you that I am VERY upset about the money spent on trying to build this media empire he has created and if you, Mr. H, ever start doing TV shows like Mr. Howie I would bet they will be much better.

Lest I be accused of being insane, I want to make it clear that Mr. Ford is insane. Grudznick does not approve of Mr. Ford so stop the emails.

Grudz, get me a couple big-money donors like Howie has backing his madness, and I'll quit my day job and crank out spectacular YouTube. I'll have you on my weekly roundtable discussion.

Mr. Stan might be our man. He's mostly reasonable except for a few things. I will speak to him.

    Cory,
What does Brad Ford do for a living? I had never heard of this raciest.
Does he head the South Dakota KKK?

Owen, info on Brad Ford seems scarce, on Howie's site, and on the net in general. Could he be perhaps an avatar or fictional character of some sort? Like... oh say... "Bill Clay?"

  7. Owen Reitzel 2012.11.13

    could be Bill.

I have also been curious as to who this person is. As usual, it's impossible to find out who's behind Gordon whether they are writing articles or subsidizing his living. Must be plenty to hide if it's not transparent.

Howie's cyber cave is a bastion of far-right extremist skullduggery. They should maybe change their logo to the Jolly Roger. Dress everybody up like pirates. Probably boost their hits by orders of magnitude. LOL. (Here's an especially nice variation on the theme for an "idea starter" for the grafix dept. Maybe play with some stars & stripes in the head dress?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pirate_Flag_of_Henry_Every.svg)

Brad Ford remains a mystery. The name is a bit too generic to produce good actionable Google info. But I'd love to meet him and offer a personal critique of his use of the English language. I could help him write better.

Mr. Ford seems to have some connection to Stephanie Strong. If anyone knows her personally give her a call.

Troy: i know you're lurking and PP keeps deleting my comments or would put this in the thread you are sharing with LK and Blob Ellis but you might like this interview on Diane Rehm.

Looks like Troy has assembled a zombie ant hill over at DWC.

More on false equivalence. Troy asks: "What is the similarity in the Kingdom of Heaven and a mustard seed? Nothing. But God didn’t strike down Jesus when he used the two in a parable."
