Feds Redistribute Wealth So Lake County Can Bicycle — Thanks, Uncle Sam!

Besides treason and whininess, here's a practical reason to oppose secession. Yank South Dakota from the Union, and we don't get that cool recreation trail extension to the great public access area on Lake Madison!

Governor Dennis Daugaard is handing out $1.5 million to nine communities, including Lake County, to build new recreation trails. And hey, let's remember that recreation trails aren't just for leisure; some of us use them for practical travels around the neighborhood!

The Madison Daily Leader gets one important detail wrong. Monday's report from Madison says Governor Daugaard is giving us state money. But KELO clarifies that Lake County, Aberdeen, Belle Fourche, Custer, Deadwood, Dell Rapids, Murdo, Watertown and Winner are receiving federal dollars administered by South Dakota Game Fish & Parks.

So next time you rev up your bikes, your boots, and your snowmobiles, remember to thank Uncle Sam for his gentle and sensible redistribution of wealth for the public good in South Dakota. Ah, socialism.

Let us never forget that while we can redistribute wealth for the common good, we can also create it.
