Veggies at a Birthday Party? Let’s Ask the Kids…

In news of nutrition and the fate of the Republic, we hosted a birthday party for our little one today (in a church, no less). Eight little forces of nature ran around playing some anarchic version of tag. Then we sat them down for chow. My wife sliced up ice cream cake, but she also had a small tray of carrots, celery, and broccoli. I had questioned the wisdom of bringing veggies. My lovely wife said she at least didn't want some health-conscious parent going away grumbling that we'd fed their kids nothing but junk food. (Also on the menu: V-8 fruit juice.)

We served the cake and juice. Then my wife set out the veggie tray.

The children's response—and I quote—"Yum! Carrots! Veggies!"

Abandon all hope, Michelle Obama-haters. You have lost.

I really like V-8 Juice. However, the low sodium sure doesn't compare with the straight stuff. lol

I find if pour a little vodka, Tabasco, and Worcestershire sauce in that low sodium V-8 it turns out ok. Also throw the veggie tray in there.

You let your kid eat veggies in a church? Mr. Sibby will hold out hope for you, but rest assured I will be telling the unbelievers and other most unclean about this at the next west river meeting.

Train up a child to eat vegetables and they will eat vegetables all their lives. Give them junk food empty calories, and they will become obese slugs.

Adults, on the other hand, kid.

Why is Obama pushing the public pain on us?

Sorry you're hurting grud: consider self-deporting to like, Minot.

I was thinking Pay Slaw, where I can live tax free amongst the rusty car bodies and feel right at home.

Grud...tell us where Pay Slaw is. Where is this Garden of Eden?

Jana: grud is a white supremacist living amongst the rusty grain bins.

Cory I am proud of you for the veggies. Actually if there are things offered to children and they see the adults eating it.........and saying "These things are not for children." they become very interested in them. Is that reverse phycology? LOL
Unfortunately I have seen too many parents taking the fast and easy way out and going through the drive thru for the morning breakfast and evening meals.

The Episcopal Diocese of South Dakota has a rule in their canons that at all church events, diabetic-friendly foods should be offered as an option at all Episcopal Church events in the State.

This was at the urging of our large Native American community for two reasons a) it's a serious health problem in First Nations country and b) a solid Lakota value: it is welcoming and hospitable to all.

Mr. Grudnick...I think you were talking about Pe' Sla...right?

What kind of a person would make that type of racist statement?

I'll let you answer that for yourself, but I think most will draw their own conclusions.

Care to walk that one back...Grud? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?

Matt, being I am an insulin dependent diabetic any booze is out for me. All though I gave up my wine coolers years before I became diabetic.
