Democrats to Protest at Noem’s Closed SF Office, Push Minimum Wage Petition

Busy Dems are happy Dems! The South Dakota Democratic Party calls its faithful friends to action today and tomorrow.

Today the Dems plan to do some shouting about the government shutdown in front of Congresswoman Kristi Noem's Sioux Falls office today (Friday) at 1:30 p.m. at 2310 West 41st Street, right next to Great Clips Salon. Alas, Rep. Noem is giving her own staff a haircut, declaring that her kamikaze politics have shut down her Sioux Falls and Rapid City offices. The Watertown office near her Highway 81 house is still open. The SDDP press release notes that Senators Johnson and Thune have managed to keep their Sioux Falls offices open to serve constituents.

After warming up with this afternoon's protest, Dems plan to work up a sweat on Saturday with a "Day of Action" on their minimum wage petition. Assuming they don't get snowed out, Democrats and friends will be walking initiative petitions at the big parades in Brookings and Vermillion and in other towns all over South Dakota. Check this schedule to find out where you can meet other advocates for decent wages, grab a petition, and go get signatures. If this Saturday's weather isn't fit for man nor petition beast, the Dems have a second Day of Action planned for Saturday, October 19.

The Dems say they are over halfway to the minimum 15,855 signatures they need by November 4; they are aiming for 25,000. Walk and knock, friends!

Like her office really ever did anything except makes excuses why Noem couldn't accomplish anything productive.

Isn't that about what all of her offices would do?

several dozen congress members have agreed not to take a paycheck or to donate their paycheck to charity while the government is shut down. The SD press needs to speak personally to Rep. Noem and ask her - not her spokesperson - if she will forego her paycheck like the 800,000+ federal employees she put out of work.

With the way this snow storm has hit, we are gonna need the State of South Dakota with a lot of resources here. I am thinking that this may require some Federal assistance as well. I hope that NOem can get her stuff together and vote yes for once to end this nonsense.
