Larry Rhoden Gets Some Support in Huron

You know the Senate campaign is tiring when...

And here I thought Stace Nelson would be the first Senate candidate to have his knees give out and need a walker.

If the wheels aren't locked, this might be followed by a big "whooooooooooooppppps" from Rhoden.

  2. TG 2013.11.17

Good one, Cory. I think Larry might even get a kick out of that one! Gotta laugh sometimes in all this, right?! :-)

Mr. Rhoden has tired knees from all of his cowboying but he is the first to hold an old lady's walker. I am told that he held many walkers that day and pushed a couple of chairs too. Please don't attack a kind young man who just happened to want to talk to some of his elders in his campaign. This is something Mr. Wieland might want to emulate.

Who is this Larry Rhoden guy?

  5. TG 2013.11.17

Grudz - I think it was done in good fun. Cory even tagged it as 'humor'.

  6. Bree S. 2013.11.17

He's a hedge, Roger. Or a syphon. Grudz is his chef.

  7. Roger Cornelius 2013.11.17

Ha Ha Bree, I liked that!
Anybody besides grudz voting for him?

  8. Bree S. 2013.11.17

Rhoden doesn't have an ability to coalesce the grassroots of the Republican Party. But if various scandals turn into something real watch for the SDGOP to jump ship to Rhoden, even though Stace is a more viable candidate. They can't afford to support Stace after all the dirty tricks they've pulled.

    True, TG!

Roger, he's your closest neighbor among the candidates! Drive up to Union Center and see him!

Bree makes a good political point while we're all busy chuckling. Stace threatens the powere structure because he wouldn't play their games and would keep one vital office, a U.S. Senate seat, out of their power web.

Anyone slamming Rhoden ever met him and spoken with him? I guess I don't understand all the evil. Even if you're not voting for someone, it doesn't mean they're the scum of the earth. Even I who am voting for Rhoden have stuck up for Stace on posts where he was getting slammed for something that just wasn't true. I guess I must focus on facts and truth too much.

Rhoden is just another earth hater from West River: armpit of the universe.

  12. TG 2013.11.18

    You're very classy un"interested party".

    Fling yourself, teegee.

There are far more signs for Stace Nelson West River than for Rhoden: South Dakota is not going to send either of these idiots to DC.

Rhoden doesn't strike me as someone cut from the same cloth as Rounds, TG. But in order to beat Rounds you have to be able to gather everyone behind you that isn't a blind button-pushing sheeple, and Rhoden doesn't appeal to some of the more fiscally conservative, more libertarian, and populist.

    Cory,

The consummate politician, Tip O'Neil said that his 11th Commandment of campaigning was to go to the electorate and ask for their vote.

That meant that even though old Mrs. O'Sullivan down the block would vote for him, he would go ask for her vote at every election.

  17. TG 2013.11.18

I imagine there are more signs because no one else has put any up! So, thanks for the newsflash.

Bree - thank you for an open, non-attacking response. I would hope if you have the chance to meet him you would and ask in this same manner any questions you might have (which could be none at this point). :-) I am aware of where you stand and I respect that.

Rhoden may enjoy the Barnett/Kirby effect: last man standing after the former governor gets washed down the kill-floor drain of history and Stace shoots himself in the foot.

I do wish posters on the DWC would tone it down against Rhoden. He's pulling the same numbers as Annette Bosworth - there's no need to go after him like he's running a competitive campaign. But I don't see your scenario happening Larry. Unless some "Prophet" runs an ad without asking, comparing Rounds to Hitler and suggesting he eats fried babies.

  20. Bree S. 2013.11.18

Well no, I think Rounds would have to run some over the top ad, right? And he wouldn't be dumb enough to do that, since that's how he got elected.

  21. interested party 2013.11.18

those posters are pat on schizophrenia.

  22. Bree S. 2013.11.18

I've been worried about PP and his multiple personalities lol, but I don't think those are really all him do you? One of them does sound younger, 20-ish, but I could be wrong.

  23. Bree S. 2013.11.18

I think we all know why he refuses to get rid of the anonymous posting though. Least credible political blog in the United States I'm sure.
