Saturday Night Concert in Custer to Protest Powertech Uranium Plan

Dakota Rural Action member Juli Ames-Curtis is throwing a concert for her neighbors and fellow Black Hills water-drinkers. The "It's About Our Water" concert happens Saturday evening, downtown Custer. Why should you go?

  1. It's a protest against Powertech/Azarga's dangerous scheme to mine uranium in Custer and Fall River counties.
  2. It's part of the "Hands Across the Land" national day of action against dirty fuel organized by the Sierra Club.
  3. It's in downtown Custer at the Old Songbird Café... and what better place for live music than downtown Custer?
  4. It's free!

Juli Ames-Curtis offers this invitation:

Almost everyone I have talked to in Custer is against this mine.... Most were very concerned over the water use and granting of water rights to a Chinese/Canadian company. Our concert will be fun and also a way to become more informed of the issue [Juli Ames-Curtis, press release, 2014.05.07].

Here are the concert details:

  • What: It’s About the Water Free Concert
  • When: Saturday, May 17, 6:00pm-9:00pm
  • Where: Old Songbird Cafe, 440 Mt. Rushmore Road, Custer SD
  • Artists: Gardner Gray - Mike Linderman - Martin Meyer - The Ramblin' Rangers, Brad and Bonnie Exton - Davidicia Little Spotted Horse

Take your date to Custer Saturday night, and enjoy some good music and clean water!

I sent a link for this post to my pals in RC. I'm hoping they'll be in Custer.

It's criminally psychopathological to willfully deceive sister and brother human beings, all the while knowing that you are bringing destruction to homes, livelihoods, the water itself. If the Powertech psychos brought dirty bombs and detonated them in RC, Hill City, Custer, Hot Springs, Chadron, etc., the press and the populace would be screaming about terrorist monsters!

But this is just good old American capitalism - with the same results, but in suits and ties.

  2. Tim 2014.05.14

Sounds like fun, I believe the wife and I will attend.

  3. Les 2014.05.14

OMG, not Tim and Les together at the Old Songbird on an issue!? I won't hold it against you. ;<)
