Pat Powers is having as bad a week as Mike Rounds. First he fouls the leverage his party minders could have gained with the Wismer plagiarism story by implicating his favorite flatteree Rounds in his fabricated fuss over Wismer's stock photos. And now real journalist Seth Tupper finds Powers flat wrong in his rumor-mongering about Brendan Johnson's house sale.
Powers had tried to Febreze his musty press releases by posting information about the U.S. Attorney selling his house, offering unsubstantiated anonymous hints that the Heidepriem law firm was rearranging partners, and concluding (behind the shield of blog-headline question marks, of course) that Johnson was quitting his job and heading to private practice in preparation to run for office in 2016.
Tupper, who now works for the paper that Powers criticized Wednesday for not maintaining a political reporter, reported yesterday that Powers is wrong:
It turns out the reality isn’t as buzzworthy as the gossip, according to Brendan Johnson. In an interview, Johnson said he has no plans to leave the U.S. attorney’s office in the immediate future and simply sold his former house in Minnehaha County and bought a different one in neighboring Lincoln County.
A check of records in Lincoln County confirms that the Johnsons bought a house there Aug. 18. A county fee of 50 cents per $500 was charged, and that fee came to $1,500, which means the purchase price was likely around $1.5 million.
“Just wanted to be closer to my wife’s office and have more garage space for our two teen drivers,” Johnson said [Seth Tupper, "Tongues Wagging Prematurely about U.S. Attorney," Rapid City Journal, 2014.09.26].
Jeepers! If Pat Powers were reporting on the Governor's Office of Economic Development/Northern Beef Packers/EB-5 scandal, Pat Powers-of-Deduction would be "reporting" that Richard Benda was abducted by aliens who sucked all the blood out of his body through a single small hole in his abdomen. Gee—that might actually be more fun than his endless and error-riddled obsession with Brendan Johnson.
PP dribbles on himself again: what a surprise.
Larry, Pat is a conservative. While progressives lean foward naturally so they dont have that trouble at the trough, conservatives tend to lean back. Dribbling is just the conclusion of Pats thoughs running down his pant leg. Think of it as an exclamation point after a bad idea.
The Blindman
Bill, anyone believing that Pat can afford unsubsidized medical care for himself, his wife and his seven sick kids is delusional. He has no choice but to sell his soul to his church and his political party to support his pauper's existence.
Rumour has it that there will soon be a shortage of wash machines as whitey wingnut is enamored with a household fixture they don't have to hug after dropping a load in it. Look for conservative divorce rates to skyrocket.
Wasn't Johanneson accused of shooting horses that belonged to a family on the Res?
Attacking somebody because of the house they own, buy or sell is an old saw that doesn't cut wood. It was PP's point of character assassination against Scott Heidepriem and before that, against Tom and Linda Daschle. But two things differ here:
1. Brendan is the District Attorney, not a candidate for any elected office.
2. Brendan and Jana have a large family, having opened their home to children by adoption who needed a safe home. You would think people would admire Brendan and Jana for doing that, rather than run them through the mud.
This kind of personal, ridiculous attack was the reason PP ruined his credibility with smart people in both parties. It's also why PP erased his blog and changed his name to Bill Clay when he collected government checks in the Secretary of State's Office while he operated his private political consultant business (kinda like his hero Joop Bollen).
PP's own father worked for DoJ: a guy who supported the FBI framing of Leonard Peltier. There is little doubt that jealousy drives Pat's Johnson Derangement Syndrome.
Pat Powers, wrong again. In other news, sky is not showing liberal bias by being blue, and glowing hot thing in sky is not a liberal plot to irridiate all with cancer, but is know as the sun, which has been know the shine for the past 4 billion years. ;)
Also, I am sorry to pollute your blog with filthy drivel, but this is the high quality standards Mr. Powers maintains over there (while all my on topic comments are "moderated")

I couldn’t be more grateful for Obamacare. My daughter has a pre-existing condition and will never be denied healthcare. Thanks, President Obama!

If your daughter has a pre-existing condition the time will come when a bureaucrat will decide that she has reached maximum improvement, or that keeping her alive is too expensive, and treatment will end. There is not enough money in the world to pay for all the medical care people want. Rationing is inevitable . The chronically ill will be the first people to feel the pain

To go along with your comment check this out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_T4 This is the kind of thing that happens when things get expensive.
Yes, The ACA as never helped anybody. In fact, it's like a Nazi program!!!!
All this is on topic discussion. And not only that, is allowed by a man with a daughter who is disabled, and competes in special olympics, and quite surely receives state physical, mental, and occupational therapy. If ones opion of Pat wasn't low already, the inclusion of this, with the exclusion of actual comments in regards to a debate, shows the moral depravity of a sick mind. Rant over (drops mic)
Anne Beal is a cow and obviously missed this from her governor: State lifts $2M cap on employee health care costs

Larry, please do not insult the cows, they do not deserve to be treated that way. Cows are productive beings, even after their death.
LOL
Scoop Powers might better use his "investigative skills" to find out what Marty Jackley knows about Brendan's intentions the day after the November election.
