Dennis Daugaard had absolutely nothing to do with the flood of corruption that took place in the Governor's Office of Economic Development and Mike Rounds's EB-5 program. Absolutely nothing whatsoever.
But when it comes to real floods on the Missouri, you'd think Governor Daugaard was Moses parting the waters:
The Governor really did a hell of a job. He was always there, he was always... around. I was glad that he was able to get out on the dike and look it over and see what everybody was going through [Zay Norman, campaign video for Dennis Daugaard, 2014.09.19].
Just what job did the Governor do during the floods? This ad talks about the flooding in the Fort Pierre area in 2011. But let's go downriver and look at the Incident Action Plan Organization Assessment List for June 13, 2011:
Incident commander Joe Lowe, deputy Gregg Smith... hmmm, I don't see Dennis Daugaard's job on there anywhere. The chart doesn't list "walking on dike and seeing what's going on" as a job.
I know, I know, "captain of the ship." But South Dakota Republicans seem awfully selective these days about the ships they claim to have captained.

Well, Daugaard was just following Janklow's example, that is running to every weather related crisis as if he had the expertise on how to handle it, OR because he did not trust the employees who's job and expertise it was to deal with those situations. LOL
LOL, JeniW that sounds about right, except that if it were Janklow, two out of those four guys standing front of Dennis would have been fired on the spot, and he'd have that hose wrapped around his leg, with the other two guys pulling him out of the water.
I always chuckle when I view that ad. If the Hell of a job Governor would have been an engineer then maybe I could see he could do something constructive, provide some advice, rely upon experience or education, but painting water towers, building your own home, or completing repairs at the Governor's mansion is not my idea of experience I would b e looking for when we knew the water was coming. He told us it was coming.
Shout out to Double D todays man of the past.
"One man in each century is given the power to control time. The man chosen to receive this power is carefully selected. He must be kind. He must be fair. He must be brave. You have fulfilled these requirements; and, we of the Outer Galaxies designate to you the wisdom of Solomon and the strength of Atlas. You are." Wait a minute, that guys dead!
That's right, you were just in the right place at the right time. You didnt do anything, but you were there.
The Blindman
Blindman, ya gotta admit, DD looked all supermanly there getting ready to part the waters. Kind of like the story of Big Bad John another helluva man, all myth.
