Herseth Sandlin Joins Biofuel/Renewable Energy Lobby Group

After failing to get a seat on the House Ag committee, Rep. Kristi Noem is now kicking up dust about dust.

Meanwhile, House Ag committee veteran Stephanie Herseth Sandlin is taking a seat on the 25x'25 National Steering Committee. 25x'25 is lobbying for the goal of producing 25% of America's energy from renewable domestic resources by 2025. Our state legislature endorses this group... but so does Monsanto, so I suppose I should assume they're evil.

So while Rep. Noem gets involved in cocktail parties and continuing mega-subsidies, Herseth Sandlin is getting involved with organizations to promote issues important to South Dakotans. I'll be curious to compare these ladies' lists of achievements by the end of 2012.

I seriously have a problem with Monsanto.

Noem will support whatever Boehner and Cantor tell her to do. I don't think it will be long before the freshman realize Noem is climbing a ladder and doesn't have the same interest they do in cutting spending.

SHS is going to bank on the GOP to cut ethanol.

Like ethanol or not ethanol is JOBS to SD.

jobs created on at the expense of better technologies is a guaranteed way to lose more jobs than you will gain in the long term. we need to phase out corn ethanol and at the very least move into cellulosic biomass. Shoving money at the first weak option that can label itself green is as much of an anchor as subsidizing any other energy.
I like bio-engineered life that poops gas

How can corn be a renewable fuel when the resources to grow corn are non-renewable?

How is cellulosic going to develop when it seems everyone wants to cut the legs off of corn based ethanol? What banker in his right mind is going to lend money to anyone for cellulosic when he or she has seen what happened to corn ethanol?
Bioengineered life that poops gas is great but how do we transition to get to that point? Also, what happens to out economy when unrest is the Middle East especially Saudi Arabia cuts off our oil supply or the Suez Canal get closed down?
Yes it takes energy to grow corn but if natural gas that we have abundance of in the US can be used in vehicles that same natural gas can be used to make the nitrogen to help produce the corn which can be used to fuel our vehicles with the infrastructure that is all ready in place for the use of liquid fuels.

What about finite supplies of potash and potasium?

  7. Gary D 2011.04.01

So in essence if we don't plant corn we aren't going to plant anything so we would not then use potash or potassium?

I will respond when you give your full name.
