Bosworth Goes Soft on Illegal Immigration: Amnesty with Conditions?

Illegitimate U.S. Senate candidate Annette Bosworth is working her donors again, adopting a Tea Party meme comparing food stamp recipients to animals. She doesn't really believe that; she's just looking for liberal media outrage to fuel her image as some conservative martyr and sway more little old Fox News viewers from Florida and Arizona to send her money to feed the kids.

I wonder how those Southern retirees would feel if they knew Annette Bosworth supports amnesty for illegal immigrants? Or, if not pure amnesty, then a tough but fair "path to citizenship" that sounds an awful lot like what President Barack Obama has advocated and that Senator Thune and other conservatives called amnesty last summer?

Let's hear from Bosworth herself on immigration:

...I like the idea of giving the people who are here illegally a very strict timeline to pay back the fine of the broken rules, to be put on a payment plan for paying for the taxes that they've used during the time that they've been here, and to becoming citizens, putting those boundaries up and then following through on that, that if they don't comply with those laws, they need to be sent home. We can't be sending Grandmother home without warning, that is inhumane, but there are answers out there of very strict steps that if you give them the opportunity to follow, I think they will, and we should reward those that are willing to do that [Annette Bosworth, YouTube video, posted 2014.04.28].

Annette Bosworth is in an awkward position to tell anyone they should be paying back the money they owe. Besides, illegal immigrants already pay their way with sales tax, Social Security taxes, and their subsidization of our cheap fruits and vegetables with their cheap labor.

But focus on the policy: the word salad that flies from Bosworth's salad-shooter mouth in this video says folks who broke the law to come to America get to stay in America, if they follow certain rules. Bosworth says "reward" those who broke the rules but come clean.

Donors, I ask you: is that really the "close the borders" conservatism you think you're paying for?

Related Non-Conservatism: In another video, Bosworth says we must hold Congress accountable for racking up so much debt. "We don't run our homes that way," Bosworth says, "we don't run the state of South Dakota that way..." but Bosworth sure runs her campaign that way. In less than a year, she's racked up $541,835 in campaign debt, 47.6% of her total campaign revenue. Hmm... the federal deficit in FY2013 was 24% of revenues, and that percentage is projected to drop to 10% by 2018. Sounds like Bosworth is worse at balancing a budget than our current Congress and Administration.

Bosworth may be cribbing Rounds: he says pretty much the same thing on immigration. Larry Rhoden wants to have a conversation after we secure the borders. Meanwhile, Stace Nelson rejects amnesty and demands that we enforce our immigration laws. Jason Ravnsborg explicitly rejects SB 744, the compromise legislation with which Bosworth and Rounds would "reward" felons.
